Job Description

The Decriminalisation and Deregulation Team under the Parliamentary and Legislative Affairs Division at NFPRC undertakes high-quality research and analysis on governance models, economic reforms, legislative matters and sectoral strategies. We operate at the critical intersection of policy design and strategic advisory, delivering solution-oriented legislative drafts that simplify the regulation and compliance of business laws. Our work is directly aimed at accelerating India's business environment and easing compliance burdens for enterprises of all sizes. By engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders and government officials, we ensure our recommendations are both practical and impactful, always keeping India's national interest at the core of our mission.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of state, national and international policies, programmes, legislations and institutional frameworks.
  • Draft bill text for the proposed legislation aimed at decriminalisation and deregulation of business and commercial laws.
  • Draft high-quality policy briefs, analytical notes and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Engage in consultations with sector experts, policymakers, industry representatives and civil society organisations.
  • Analyse governance models, economic strategies and institutional reforms to identify best practices and gaps.
  • Engage with parliamentary committees, review reports, and track government notifications.
  • Track legislative business of the Parliament and State Assemblies and draft briefs and compendium related to it.
  • Assist senior researchers and leadership in preparing presentations, reports and proposals for high-level engagements.
  • Operate in a dynamic, high-action oriented environment and deliver high-quality outputs.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputed University.
  • Should have a clear understanding of the adjudication process at various levels and the interpretation of statutes.
  • Clear understanding of the Business Operations and Compliance procedures related to various types of Businesses.
  • High attention to detail, Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to synthesise complex policy and governance information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Hindi is highly preferred; knowledge of regional languages is an added advantage.
  • Basic proficiency in spreadsheets, presentation tools and document processors.

Desirable Skills:

  • One to two years of prior experience will be preferred.
  • Prior experience in policy research, governance advisory or public administration.
  • Candidates with Business related degrees, diplomas and certifications will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of Indian political and governance systems and current policy debates.
  • Experience working with think tanks, government bodies, consulting firms or research institutions.
  • Proficiency in Research Tools.
  • Exposure to policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement or programme implementation.
