Data Analyst/ Associate Analyst

About the Organisation:
PRS is a leading research group with the mission to strengthen India’s democracy by helping Parliament and state assemblies be more effective.  These institutions make laws, hold the governments accountable and allocate public funds.  It is important that they have information and analysis to perform their functions well, and that citizens have channels of engaging with their elected representatives.

PRS is hiring Analysts for the research team.  Members of the research team prepare briefing notes on Bills in Parliament and state assemblies, policy developments and budgets.  They also brief senior policy makers in person, and write occasional articles in the media. 

Core responsibilities: 

The candidate is expected to collate and manage data on working of legislatures and various policies, prepare analytical notes, and communicate the analysis to a wide audience.  The candidate should have a background in data sciences, and should be well-versed with at least one programming language among Python, Java, C++ and Javascript.   It is essential to have prior experience in data scraping, analysis and visualisation.

The role is based in Delhi and may require travel for research and dissemination of research.  The position reports to the Head of Research.

• Good quantitative skills with an ability to analyse and represent data accurately;
• Good writing and communication skills;
• Ability to work independently while being a team player;
• Ability to multi-task and deliver quality work in a timely way;
• Objective thinking and openness to ideas.

Qualifications sought:

• For Data Analyst - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related fields with 2-3 years of relevant work experience, or a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related fields.
• For Associate Analyst: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related fields.  Others meeting the skill requirements are also encouraged to apply.
