Job Description

PATH’s TB program is dedicated towards eradicating TB globally by implementing innovative evidence-based interventions that focus on identifying missing cases and implementing a patient-centered approach to treatment. PATH works for public-private management of TB patients by working directly with local government agencies, community-based organizations, and the national government. PATH is a leader in India for engaging with the private sector, including allopathic and non-allopathic practitioners, hospitals, laboratories, and pharmacies, especially in urban slum settings.

PATH is currently recruiting for Deputy Director, who will be a key part of the India TB/HIV program. S/he will work on designing PATH’s upcoming TB interventions, interfacing with donors and National TB Program, and providing guidance to the PATH TB/HIV team on implementing effective strategies to engage the private sector across multiple districts in India. S/he will be based out of Delhi and report to the Director, India TB/HIV program.


  • Support the Director in engaging with donors providing regular updates
  • Designing PATH’s upcoming TB interventions in India
  • Build PATH’s TB/HIV portfolio in India
  • Provide leadership in tuberculosis programming, policies, procedures, guidelines, tools and standards
  • Represent PATH in key district, State and National level meetings
  • Support the Project Director in pursuing business development opportunities
  • Lead the implementation of PATH’s projects across various districts
  • Review project work-plans and donor reports
  • Review project progress against milestones and provide guidance to the implementation team to achieve targets
  • Guide project team on preparing proposals for new opportunities
  • Work along with the Project Director to engage with the Central TB Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, World Health Organization, and other national and international level agencies for Tuberculosis control
  • Engage with other organizations involved in tuberculosis control interventions and establish avenues for collaboration
  • Support advocacy, communication and social mobilization for improved TB control program

Required Experience

Required skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in public health with at least five years of experience managing large complex projects
  • MBBS or MD, MPH preferred
  • Knowledge of tuberculosis science and field, with familiarity with other diseases and public health issues
  • Demonstrated talent management skills including recruiting and hiring successful staff and consultants; coaching, mentoring and developing staff
  • Leadership skills, including a commitment to collaborative management within a team-based organizational structure and a proven ability to direct change, inspire teamwork, and motivate staff and partners to achieve results
  • Proven success in managing teams in dynamic, results based environment
  • Ability to network and interact effectively with donor, healthcare providers, Government, and Non-Governmental organizations
  • Demonstrated acumen in financial accountability, administration, and operations
  • Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, and enthusiasm in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with teams who are remote and to exercise independent judgement
  • Proven excellence in interpersonal and cross-cultural relations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, proficiency in Hindi is preferred
  • Desire and ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 30 percent
