Hostel Manager

A national-level social organization established by a renowned freedom fighter is seeking a Hostel Manager for its student hostel in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The hostel provides affordable accommodation to students belongs to economic weaker section to help them continue their education. The ideal candidate should be above 40-50 years of age, preferably retired from the defence services and willing to reside on the hostel premises. The Hostel Manager will be responsible for effectively managing hostel affairs and will report directly to the Local Advisory Committee (LAC). The main responsibilities of the hostel manager are:

1. Administration & Management
   • Oversee day-to-day functioning of the hostel and ensure smooth operations.
   • Maintain discipline, safety and a conducive living-learning environment.
   • Keep accurate records of admissions, attendance and student profiles.
   • Ensure compliance with rules, policies and guidelines of the organization and government.
2. Student Welfare & Support
   • Provide guidance, counselling and mentorship to students, addressing academic, personal and emotional needs.
   • Create an inclusive, supportive environment sensitive to the needs of students.
   • Promote equality, dignity and non-discrimination within the hostel.
3. Facilities & Infrastructure Management
   • Ensure cleanliness, hygiene and maintenance of hostel premises, rooms and common areas.
   • Supervise hostel staff and allocate duties effectively.
4. Financial & Resource Management
   • Manage hostel budget, expenses and resources efficiently and transparently.
   • Maintain records of hostel fees, donations, grants, and other support provided to students.
   • Ensure optimal use of resources (food, electricity, water, etc.) to avoid wastage.
   • Fund raising from the local corporates and hostel aluminise
5. Safety & Security
   • Implement safety measures for students, including fire safety, first aid and emergency response.
   • Ensure secure entry/exit protocols, visitor regulations and student safety especially during travel.
   • Address any cases of harassment, bullying, or discrimination immediately.
6. Coordination & Reporting
   • Liaise with parents/guardians, educational institutions and the social organization.
   • Submit regular reports on hostel activities, student progress and challenges.
   • Coordinate with local authorities and community stakeholders for student welfare and development.
7. Capacity Building & Engagement
   • Organize co-curricular activities, study support, health check-ups and life-skills workshops.
   • Encourage participation of students in sports, cultural activities and community service.
   • Foster leadership, teamwork and responsibility among students.
8. Any other responsibility given by the organization.

This is a socially transformation position and needs high level of social commitments. Any retired person interested to work with youths to transform their lives and guide them to become responsible citizen are welcome.
