Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS Mohali) is a public tertiary medical college and hospital located in SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, India. Established in 2021, the institute offers the undergraduate medical degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The college is recognized by National Medical Commission and is affiliated with the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Like all other Indian medical colleges, student admission in this college happens on the basis of merit through National Eligibility and Entrance Test. The hospital associated with this college is one of the largest hospitals in Mohali.
Job Description
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial activities under the Leadership in Mental Health Programme (LMHP) and supporting the operations of Data Intelligence and Technical Support Unit (DITSU). This includes maintaining accurate accounts, ensuring compliance with financial norms, supporting budget planning, and preparing timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. The role requires strong attention to detail, financial integrity, and familiarity with project-based accounting in academic or public-sector institutions.
Job Responsibilities
The Communications and Outreach Associate will work towards building a brand identity and generating communication material for supporting key initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Financial Management & Accounting
- Maintain day-to-day books of accounts for the project using appropriate accounting software.
- Record, reconcile, and update receipts, payments, and ledgers on a regular basis.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable for project-related activities.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in preparation of annual and quarterly project budgets.
- Track expenditures against approved budgets and flag variances.
- Support financial forecasting and resource planning.
Audit & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with institutional financial rules, government norms, and donor guidelines.
- Prepare documentation and assist in internal/external audits.
- Maintain proper records of procurement, utilization certificates (UCs), and supporting documents.
Administrative Support
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and programme staff for timely financial transactions.
- Facilitate salary processing, reimbursements, and travel claims related to project personnel.
- Maintain proper filing (physical & digital) of all financial documents.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline; B.Com graduates will be given preference.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in accounting.
- Proficiency in Tally/ERP, MS Excel, and basic financial software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and statutory compliances.
- Fluency of Punjabi (preferred).
- Experience in handling government-funded or donor-funded projects (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and manage timelines for financial reporting.
