About the Organization
The Foundation was formally established on 9 March 2001 (under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act of 1956). Since then, Azim Premji has contributed a substantial portion of his wealth to create a philanthropic endowment, valued at approximately INR 2,40,000 crore (USD 29 billion) as of January 2023. This endowment serves as the financial corpus supporting the Foundation’s various initiatives.
Job Description
Our work with Adolescent Girls looks to support organizations that aim at qualitative and substantial changes in lives of girls and young women and help them take control of their future. We partner with large, mid-sized and small organizations to support work that looks to:
- Strengthen mechanisms to ensure girls & young women come together and can assert themselves.
- Capacitate girls’ and young women’s collectives to claim their rights, collectively fight safety concerns, discrimination & abuse.
- Support girls and young women in building critical knowledge, skills and attitude needed to navigate lives within families and community.
- Improve girls and women’s access to public spaces, public goods and services.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify potential partners within the specific geography.
- Ensure compliance with specific grant proposals so that they meet the Foundation’s guidelines and requirements, and are a well-drafted request, complete in all aspects
- Review all completed proposals to ensure that required information has been provided. Ensure that the story of the grantee organisation comes through clearly.
- Lead the efforts on the due diligence process and partner engagement from both programme and finance lens.
- Post approval, provide support to the partners to ensure that the financial resources reach them in time and support small organisations in reporting, meeting grants compliances, on and in capturing effects of the work.
- Ensure compliance with the grant making system through the entire lifecycle of a grant.
- Supplement the research and development of frameworks, models, and theories around the operating area.
- Contribute to capturing the effects of the overall work in the theme.
- Contribute in expanding our work with young women (collectivization, leadership, livelihood, etc.)
- Contribute in capacitating front line facilitators, peer leaders and other members of partners working with Adolescent Girls
- Support small organisations in strengthening Adolescent Girls’ programmes and/or young women’s collectives.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Candidates who have deeply engaged with issues of gender justice and worked with adolescent girls/ young women in areas of gender based violence, child marriage, violence, leadership and livelihoods etc.
- Candidates who have previously worked with adolescent girls, their collectives and peer leadership building.
- Experience of programme budget making/managing
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree desirable
- Should have made significant and long-lasting contributions in his/her area of specialisation
- High level of self-motivation, initiative, and creativity
- Comfort in writing
- Willingness to travel extensively for work
- Substantial knowledge of organizational and project management
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, and solve problems independently or collaboratively a needed
- Minimum 8 - 15years of experience in the sector; at least 3-4 years of work with adolescent girls
