About the Organization

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which was established in 1936 is a Deemed University fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. TISS offers over 50 Masters' Degree Programmes from in a range of socially relevant inter-disciplinary areas of Social Work, Social Sciences, Health, Management, Labour Studies, Habitat Studies and Rural Development from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses. Job Responsibilities

Assist in all project activities, including developing the village-level flood vulnerability index under supervision; collecting and preprocessing spatial and socio-economic data; conducting preliminary geospatial and statistical analyses; supporting field surveys and stakeholder workshop logistics; and contributing to academic documentation. The JRF will work closely with the SRF and PI on data management and model development.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Geography, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Disaster Management) or equivalent.

Desirable:

• Candidates having qualified a national eligibility test (CSIR-UGC NET/JRF, GATE, or equivalent) is desirable.
• Good programming and GIS/remote-sensing skills are preferred. Prior experience/coursework in geospatial analysis and decision-support tools is desirable.

Salary

(Consolidated): INR 37,000 per month + HRA as per norms
