About the Organization
The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy (“Vidhi”) is an independent think tank doing legal research to make better laws and improve governance for the public good. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, the judiciary, as well as other public institutions, providing research, drafting support, and recommendations to improve governance. Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future.
Job Description
Research Fellows at Vidhi work closely with their teams to conduct legal and policy research, draft publications, and contribute to evidence-based law and governance reform.
In this role, the Fellow will begin their term with the JALDI (Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India) team, working on issues related to judicial reform and access to justice and contributing to ongoing research and reform efforts on judicial administration and access to justice, while also being part of an institutional pool of researchers who work with other teams during their tenure, based on organisational needs and individual strengths.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in law
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and work on tight deadlines when necessary
- Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel
Desirable requirements
- 1-3 years of demonstrable work experience
- A demonstrable interest in judicial reform or access to justice
- Knowledge or experience of monitoring and evaluating projects
- Ability to speak and communicate in different Indian languages
- Ability to analyse data
