About the Organization
The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, formerly known as the Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC) till 1970, was established in July 1956 under the joint sponsorship of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, the Government of India and the United Nations. It serves as a regional centre for Training and Research in Population Studies for the ESCAP region. The Institute was re-designated to its present title in 1985 to facilitate the expansion of its academic activities. It was declared as a 'Deemed to be University' on August 14, 1985, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The recognition has facilitated the award of recognized degrees by the Institute itself and paved the way for further expansion of the Institute as an academic institution. In 2006, the Institute celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to project activities such as systematic review, metaanalysis, etc.
- Contribute to writing codes and programming for analytical outcomes
- Data curation, data compilation, data management, and data analysis
- Project report writing and drafting of journal articles
- Assist principal and co-coordinator(s) in administrative work related to the project
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Statistics/Bio-Statistics & Demography/Population Studies/Demography/Public Health
- Working knowledge of statistical & GIS software: R/Python/STATA/SPSS/QGIS/ArcGIS
- Working knowledge of large-scale survey data (e.g., DHS, NSSO, LASI, World Bank, and other databases)
- Knowledge of tools and techniques used in mortality, life expectancy, and cause-of-death studies
Desirable Qualifications/Exp eriences:
- PhD Degree in Statistics/Bio-Statistics/Population Studies/Demography/Public health
- Knowledge of Machine Learning modules and advanced statistical methods
- Ability in coding and programming in R/Python
- Fluency in English speaking and writing
Salary
Rs. 37,000 - 50,000/- per month (Consolidated)
This purely temporary position is for a period of three months, likely to be extended till the tenure of the project.
