Job Description

The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST) is looking for an experienced and dynamic professional to join its Climate Resilience program and undertake research and policy engagement at the city level.

A successful applicant must have a proven aptitude for analytical research and multi-stakeholder engagement, comprehensive knowledge of India’s clean energy policy and regulatory landscape, and excellent communication skills. The candidate must clearly understand and appreciate the role played by think tanks in shaping public policy and supporting their implementation.

The Climate Resilience team is primarily focused on assessing the impact of rising temperatures, heatwaves and extreme weather events on cities. The ideal candidate should have prior exposure of using geospatial tools in city planning, possess data analytic skills, expertise in climate risk assessments, and experience of engaging with key government stakeholders at the state and city-level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake analytical research and technical analysis.
  • Engage in primary research along with team and ground surveyors to generate data.
  • Coordinate with government officials and agencies, industry, etc. for procurement of data and information related to research.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, analytical research papers, technical briefs, etc.
  • Organize and do stakeholder meetings to strengthen
  • Organize/convene meetings (including roundtables and public meetings) to disseminate research findings and build policy an public engagement.
  • Contribute to institutional profile building and growth.
  • Any other related assignments as may be entrusted by the reporting authority.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master in Urban planning, town planning, disaster management, social science, or related field from a reputed institution.

Work experience

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant work experience in city heat action planning, climate change adaptation, building climate resilience, and climate impacts on cities. A track record of publications in journals will be an added advantage.

Key competencies:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strives for rigour in research and output.
  • Competent in using statistical and GIS tools.
  • Competent in managing priorities and ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Self-driven individual who takes initiative and also ownership of work.
  • Willingness to travel.
