Job Description
The Strategic Communications Associate will play a key role in strengthening the Climate Change & Sustainability (CCS) practice’s visibility, positioning, and stakeholder engagement. The role involves leading the design and execution of communication and branding strategies, creating high-quality content and knowledge products, managing media and digital outreach, and supporting internal and external stakeholder communications. The Associate will also contribute to planning and executing events, campaigns, and high-level dialogues that amplify CCS’s work on climate change and sustainability.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Communication & Branding (25%)
- Support the design and execution of CCS’s overall communications and branding strategy.
- Ensure alignment of communication outputs with the CCS practice’s strategic objectives.
- Develop key messages, positioning notes, and communication toolkits for internal and external stakeholders.
Content Development & Knowledge Products (25%)
- Draft, edit, and design high-quality content including reports, blogs, op-eds, policy briefs, case studies, newsletters, and presentations.
- Coordinate the preparation of donor/partner updates, impact stories, and knowledge products for dissemination.
- Translate technical climate and sustainability concepts into accessible and engaging narratives.
Media & Outreach (20%)
- Manage CCS’s digital presence, including website, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and other relevant platforms.
- Liaise with media, prepare press releases, and support event visibility (workshops, conferences, launches).
- Identify platforms for thought leadership (journals, forums, global events) and prepare content for submissions.
Internal & Stakeholder Communication (15%)
- Support preparation of speeches, talking points, and briefing notes for senior leadership.
- Coordinate communication with strategic partners, donors, and advisory groups (e.g., HLIAG).
- Work closely with project teams to capture field experiences and success stories.
Events & Campaigns (15%)
- Assist in designing communication campaigns for global days (World Environment Day, COP events, etc.).
- Support planning and branding of CCS-led convenings, workshops, and high-level dialogues.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant PR/media relations experience, preferably in development, consulting, or corporate communications.
- Familiarity with climate change, environment, or sustainability issues preferred.
- Proven track record of securing impactful media placements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of Hindi/other regional languages will be an advantage).
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Prior experience in development consulting/NGOs/Government/International organizations will be an advantage.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
