About the Conference

This international conference is being organized considering the themes to be relevant to the indigenous languages, literature, and folklore. The conference therefore shall undertake the importance of classical, endangered, and regional languages focusing on their preservation, development, and promotion. This can be realized only through the scientific temperament towards language preservation. Also, literature and folklore being language exercises are better analysed and understood through different linguistic approaches, and thus the language, literature, and folklore shape up  intertwined, inseparable, and interdependent social structures.

Further, folklore discusses the concepts such as tradition, closeness to nature, indigenousness, belonging to a rural knowledge system, beliefs and traditional knowledge systems of communities passed down through the generations in the form of storytelling, songs, totems, traditions, rituals and performance. In rediscovering our roots in traditionality and in pursuit of a deeper meaning of life, the research and shift towards folklores, folk arts, folk symbols and traditions are required to be executed at the educational institutions exhaustively. This will help us in understanding the meaning of our evolution and existence. In antiquity, the nature of folk was oral, however, contemporary approaches to folklore are emerging from the written sources. This is the only reason to believe that the folklore of the antique orality is indivisible and inseparable from the literature. Since, literature and its nuances provides a comprehensive picture of the human civilization, and the original and unpublished papers from its facets are also encouraged.

Also, the study of the local languages and their folklore share a historical link that emerged during the early 19th Century. The folk of a particular community, region, or religion can only be narrated through its local language. The local languages in Jammu and Kashmir such as Dogri (Kandi & Pahadi); Kashmiri (in Kashmir); Punchi (in Poonch); Pahari (in Rajouri); Sarazi (in Saraz region of Doda); Bhaderwahi (spoken in Bhaderwah) and many more. Similarly, there are numerous local languages in Indian States and Union Territories, and the researchers may come up with their respective languages and their folklores. It is significant to research on the local languages and their folklores to save them from getting extinct, as they are endangered at present. Therefore, we are supposed to reverse the language attrition through “vocal” for local languages and their indigenous cultures including folks. Eventually, the researchers and participants are encouraged to submit the abstracts for this conference. The conference is open to all the researchers specializing in the Language, Literature & Folklore.
