Cargill India is supporting the nation, nourishing our world amid COVID19

The world is facing an unprecedented emergency. In India, millions of daily wage workers and migrants are facing challenges in access to basic needs like food and shelter. Cargill is driven by the value of nourishing our world and to tackle a humanitarian crisis of such proportions, they are working hard to ensure that families in need have access to meals. 

Cargill partnered with NGOs and  Government Agencies to provide over 16 million meals to families in need through multiple humanitarian actions around the country, they prepared for this fight against hunger. 

One of Cargill’s key interventions has been partnering with Maharashtra State Government Agencies in Pune Zilla Parishad to provide Gemini Sun Flower Oil to over 100,000 families in and around Pune. Further, in association with its Partners - Akshaya Patra, Zomato Feeding India and  India FoodBanking Network.

“This global crisis requires a fully concerted approach to be adopted. Given the critical nature of our business, we are cognizant of our role in the relief and recovery efforts. We are doing everything needed to ensure supply of essential food and feed products continues. On the other hand, we are supporting local authorities and reaching out through NGO partners to provide food items and meals to nourish those impacted. We will continue helping communities during this time of need”, said Simon George, president, Cargill India.

Cargill is providing cooked meals and dry rations across 16 cities in India. It is also a part of nationwide relief efforts through contributions to PM CARES Fund. It is supporting local administration and relief operations and working in communities through NGO partners. Employees across its factories and distribution centres ensure that they continue to produce and supply essential food items like Flour and Oil to cater to the community.
