Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation Impacts 60,000 Students and Aims for 500 Rural Schools by 2025

InDiya Foundation

In India\'s rural areas, many schools still face significant challenges like inadequate infrastructure, limited accessibility to qualitative education, and specific resources, which leave students unprepared for the future. Students residing in remote, underprivileged areas struggle to access modern learning tools, crucial in students\' development in a constantly evolving digital environment.

However, this gap has hindered the potential of hundreds and thousands of young minds and left them struggling to access one of the most essential and basic needs.

Addressing the unique challenges faced by rural schools in India, the Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation (SHIF) has launched a transformative initiative. This initiative, a collaboration between Schneider Electric India and Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation, uniquely bridges the gap between digital resources and education. It does so by introducing digital classrooms powered by renewable energy into rural government schools, a novel approach to improving educational access and quality.

These classrooms, equipped with top-notch technology, serve as reliable hubs to foster environment-based awareness and empower students to become “Green Ambassadors.” By making qualitative education accessible to all students, this initiative is here to ensure that students from remote areas cannot only thrive but also lead the way in environmental sustainability.

The Initiative

The Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation (SHIF) is a collaboration between cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation and Schneider Electric India. Together, they have launched the SMITA program, a transformative initiative that has already had a significant impact on the lives of 60,000 students across 300 schools in rural India.

Moreover, this program aims to bridge the digital divide in education by building digital classrooms and leveraging renewable energy sources like solar power.  By prioritizing sustainability and innovation, SHIF enhances educational accessibility and promotes responsibility towards the environment among young learners.

Furthermore, SHIF aims to revitalize 500 rural government schools by 2025, improving the lives of 100,000 students in diverse districts of India. This initiative targets regions that often lack basic educational infrastructure, which means students\' growth is limited due to a lack of adequate learning experience.

The foundation’s commitment to building digital classrooms highlights the importance of education and teaching in regional languages, making education accessible to access and relatable to many local communities.

The SMITA program further strives to build a generation of responsible, well-informed, skilled, and educated citizens. Moreover, the foundation seeks to bridge the digital gap and ensure that every child has important resources accessible to support their development. This vision aligns with Schneider Electric’s mission of fostering sustainable development via education and energy access.

By integrating climate action into the educational framework, SHIF empowers students to become ‘Green Ambassadors,’ capable of leading initiatives for environmental conservation within their communities.

Implementation and Services

The Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation (SHIF) has made essential strides in improving educational opportunities for students in rural areas through its SMITA program. This move has impacted 60,000 students across 300 schools by offering them digital classrooms established using renewable energy sources.

This program is designed to bridge digital accessibility and promote a culture of sustainability among young minds. SHIF strives to equip students with adequate skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving world by fostering an interactive and engaging learning environment.

SHIF has set an ambitious target of transforming 500 rural government schools by 2025, impacting over 100,000 students across India\'s aspirational districts. This transformative initiative aims to improve access to quality education and empower students to become \'Green Ambassadors\'—champions of environmental sustainability within their communities.

By integrating education with a strong focus on sustainability, SHIF is nurturing future leaders equipped to tackle global challenges like climate change. This dual-pronged strategy fosters academic growth while instilling a deep sense of environmental stewardship, ensuring that today\'s students are prepared to shape a more sustainable tomorrow.

Impact Created

SHIF has made a profound impact on the educational landscape in India by reaching over 60,000 students in more than 300 schools with the SMITA program. This initiative prioritizes allowing rural students to access top-notch technology conveniently and empowering them to succeed in diverse sectors with interactive learning experiences.

These classrooms offer access to modern educational resources and serve as community hubs for promoting environmental awareness. By integrating technology into the learning process, SHIF is transforming the academic structure for students in underprivileged areas to ensure they have access to the right and advanced resources at the right time to make them prepare for their brighter future.

SHIF aims to expand its reach significantly by revitalizing 500 rural government schools by 2025, aiming to impact over 100,000 young learners. This ambitious goal reflects the foundation\'s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in aspirational districts across India.

As part of this initiative, SHIF emphasizes the importance of language accessibility in education, ensuring that learning materials are available in regional languages. The partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Schneider Electric India underlines a shared vision of creating a sustainable future through education, highlighting that access to quality education is a fundamental right that can empower communities and drive positive change.

Way Forward

Looking ahead, the Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation (SHIF) is committed to further enhancing educational access and quality for rural students through its SMITA program. With a clear goal of transforming 500 rural schools by 2025, the foundation is poised to expand its impact even further.

The way forward involves scaling up the number of digital classrooms and ensuring that these facilities are equipped with sustainable energy sources, such as solar power, to promote environmental consciousness among students. By fostering a community of \"Green Ambassadors,\" SHIF will empower students to take proactive steps toward climate action, integrating education with sustainability.

To achieve its ambitious goals, SHIF will focus on building partnerships with local governments and communities, ensuring that the initiatives are personalized to meet the specific needs of each region. Engaging stakeholders—including educators, parents, and local leaders—will be crucial in creating a supportive ecosystem for learning.

Moreover, continuous monitoring and evaluation of the program\'s effectiveness will help refine strategies and maximize impact, aiming to touch the lives of over 100,000 young learners across aspirational blocks in India.
