One of the global issues faced by society today is the unequal status of women. Research shows that education goes a long way in correcting this disparity, leading to better outcomes in terms of gender equality and empowerment of women. However, many girls and young women are at a disadvantage because they lack access to education.The problem is more acute in developing countries and states with a low human development index.

In our country too, we find young women struggling to overcome multiple challenges imposed by social and cultural factors. For some who succeed, it is the lack of financial resources that ends their dream of pursuing higher education.This leaves them vulnerable to early marriages, increased poverty and further disempowerment.The cycle continues, increasing the socio-economic gap between their families and those who are more fortunate.

About the Scholarship

Santoor Scholarship Program, launched in 2016-17, is a joint initiative of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Group (WCCLG) and Wipro Cares, that intends to support young women from disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to pursue higher education after grade 12.

The annual recurring program supports the selected students until they complete their undergraduate programs. The financial support provided may be utilized for education and allied expenses. Currently, the Santoor Scholarship Program is available exclusively for women students in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Telangana. 

We are proud to announce the launch of the ninth edition of the Santoor Scholarship Programme for young women. Over the past eight years, the program has supported more than 8000 students to continue their higher education in sciences, commerce, arts (humanities)

The programme will offer scholarship support to 1,500 women students in 2024-25 across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh. Each selected student will receive an amount of  of INR 24,000 per annum until the completion of their degree programme.

Priority funding is offered to students hailing from aspirational (backward) districts of these states.

Eligibility

• Passed class 10 from a local government school.
• Passed class 12 from a government school/junior college in the academic year 2023-24.
• Enrolled in a full-time graduate program beginning from 2024-25.

• Click the ‘Start Application’ button to begin the application process.
• Fill in the required details in the online application form.
• Upload the relevant documents.
• Accept the ‘Terms and Conditions’ and click ‘Preview’.
• If all the details are correct in the preview, click the ‘Submit’ button to complete your application.

The last date for applying is 20th September, 2024.
