About the Organization

The Egis Foundation is the main organizer of the challenge, overseeing every aspect from conception to execution. Since 2022, it has been organizing the challenge annually, ensuring its smooth progression from start to finish. The Egis Foundation is the corporate foundation of the Egis Group, a major international player in engineering and mobility services. Since its creation in 2006, the Foundation has focused on supporting innovative solutions to address climate change and other environmental challenges.

Since 2021, the Foundation has dedicated itself to supporting the transition to a more sustainable world, with an emphasis on climate adaptation. It plays a key role in supporting NGOs by funding and empowering projects focused on adaptation. Through initiatives like the "Team up for Climate" challenge, it also inspires young people to develop innovative solutions to environmental issues. By encouraging its employees to actively participate, the foundation fosters a collaborative culture of engagement both within and outside the company.

About the Challenge

Each year since 2022, students and young graduates from around the world come together in teams of 2 to 5 to come up with an innovative solution on the topic:  adapting and living together in the face of climate risks.

As teams advance in the challenge, they gain access to a range of support to help shape their projects. This includes collective workshops training them on pitching, business models, and entrepreneurship as well as mentors paired with each teams, to focus on the technical aspects of their ideas and their impact on climate adaptation.

The top three teams will be awarded personal prizes , along with additional funding to help bring their projects to life during the first 6 months.

Imagine transforming a local area you know well, making it more resilient to climate change. Start by identifying the climate risks and vulnerabilities in that area. The more you understand what's at stake, the better your solution will be. Your project can focus on one or more of these categories:

  • Inform & Raise Awareness: Engage the community through creative methods —this could include organizing workshops, creating awareness campaigns, or using tech or social media. Consider using storytelling, art, or interactive tools to communicate the climate risks and inspire action.
  • Anticipate & Repair: Develop solutions to help communities prepare for climate risks and recover from disasters. This might involve creating early warning systems, setting up disaster preparedness plans, or designing strategies to rebuild critical infrastructure in a more resilient way like introducing drought-resistant crops.
  • Protect: Design practical solutions to physically protect communities from climate risks. This could be through creating flood barriers, building resilient infrastructure, or using nature-based approaches like reforestation or coastal protection to shield against storms or erosion.
