Cadila Pharmaceuticals, SEWA organise Kishori Mela to empower adolescent girls

Cadila Pharmaceuticals, in partnership with SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association), organised a Kishori Mela, to empower young girls with essential knowledge and awareness. More than 200 adolescent girls from Dholka and Daskroi talukas benefited from the event. Right knowledge about the proper nutrition is essential part of the growing stage of adolescent girls.

The Kishori Mela featured a series of informative activities and sessions, including demonstrations on the nutritional benefits of millets, informative programs on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and details about the Women’s Helpline 181 to spread awareness and promote women’s welfare.

In addition, the event focused on health and hygiene with informative sessions on anaemia, nutrition, and overall well-being. The beneficiary girls also participated in cultural programmes aimed at showcasing hygienic and nutritious food, the significance of superfood millets, and environmental awareness.

Dr. Bharat Champaneria, Trustee at Indrashil Kaka-Ba and Kala Budh Public Charitable Trust, the charitable arm of Cadila Pharmaceuticals, said, “Cadila Pharmaceuticals is committed to giving back to society through various CSR initiatives. Education of the girl child, women’s health and women empowerment are some important initiatives Cadila Pharmaceuticals supports, and these were the highlights of the Kishori Mela. During the event, senior leader from Cadila CSR gave demonstrations on millets, while Heenaben from KVK spoke about various aspects related to women’s well-being. Ms Vrutikaben from the Children’s Welfare Department covered topics like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and 181 Helpline. Ms Muniraben, the health officer of Dholka, educated the participants about anaemia, nutritious food, and cleanliness. Ms Sonalben of the Aatma Project in Dholka spoke about natural farming.

The Kishori Mela witnessed the participation of over 200 girls hailing from various villages, including Bhetavada, Trasad, Nesda, Pisawada in Dholka taluka, and Bhat and Hirapur in Daskroi taluka.
