Estimated Prescribed CSR of Companies for the Year 2021-22

As per India's Corporate Social Responsibility Norms, the companies crossing the prescribed threshold are required to spend at least 2% of their average net profit for the immediately preceding 3 financial years on CSR activities. We at CSRBOX have compiled a comprehensive list of 510 companies and estimated their prescribed CSR for 2021-22. From the companies covered under the research, the overall estimated prescribed CSR for FY 2021-22 came out to be INR 13706.01 Cr. Given below are the top 10 companies from PAN India as per their estimated prescribed CSR.

Banking and Finance; Oil Drilling Lubricants and Petrochemicals; Miscellaneous; Metals Mining and Mineral; and Computer Software and IT are the major 5 industrial sectors withthe largest estimated prescribed CSR funding. They together cover about 72% of the total prescribed amount.

*Miscellaneous category includes aquaculture, packaging paints & varnishes, breweries & distilleries, cigarettes, printing & stationery, etc.

Around 64% of the companies have prescribed CSR of INR 1 to 25 Cr. whereas 6.5% and 8.2% of them have more than INR 100 Cr. and between INR 25 to 50 Cr. respectively.

The above graph represents a total of 425 companies (out of 510 companies covered under this report) that have estimated prescribed CSR amount for the year 2021-22 greater than or equal to INR 1 Cr.

Now, looking at the spatial distribution of these companies, we observe that three locations namely Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru are hotspots having more than 50% of these companies' HQ.

And, in terms of the overall estimated prescribed CSR amount where major companies are Headquartered, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Dehradun are the top 5 districts. These 5 locations together cover companies having about INR 10053.03 Cr. ie.,  73.33% of the total estimated prescribed CSR for FY 2021-22.
