Madhuram Charitable Trust, which is working for the marginalised, specially gifted, and physically challenged persons, has expanded its presence in Mumbai and has tied up with Germany’s Otto Bock to support beneficiaries. The Ahmedabad-based Trust will sponsor the cost of the imported prosthetic legs to be provided to beneficiaries from Mumbai, while Otto Bock will provide fitment services free of cost.
“We are very happy to begin Madhuram Charitable Trust’s work in Mumbai. Otto Bock is a 100-year-old German multinational company that has been working with people with disability for many years. They are the perfect partners for us as we aim to support the maximum number of beneficiaries in Mumbai. I am confident together we will be able to change many lives,” said Shraddha Soparkar, Founder Trustee of Madhuram Charitable Trust.
Madhuram Charitable Trust aims to provide prosthetic legs to 50 beneficiaries in the initial phase. Ms Soparkar met some of the beneficiaries from Mumbai who have been provided prosthetic legs and interacted with them. “The beneficiaries were very happy with the best-quality prosthetic legs provided to them,” Ms Soparkar said.
Madhuram Charitable Trust has provided German-made prosthetic legs, each costing Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2.5 lakh, to more than 150 beneficiaries under its Stepathon project in Gujarat. The Trust aims to reach 500 beneficiaries in a year.
