Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) brought to life the magic of The Lion King through Tale ‘N Tunes, The Crown of Change, a captivating musical drama an adaptation of The Lion King, staged at St. Andrew's Auditorium, Bandra. The event witnessed the remarkable participation of 600 students from 30 schools from underserved communities, showcasing their talent, creativity, and growing proficiency in English as part of the Communicative English Future Readiness Program.
The event served as a powerful platform for KEF’s Middle school students, integrating creative storytelling with a meaningful exploration of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The students developed crucial public speaking along with confidence as they presented their interpretations. Through a dynamic blend of enactments, dance, and musical performances, the students reimagined The Lion King while drawing attention to pressing global issues such as environmental conservation, responsible consumption, and the importance of inclusive communities.
Speaking about the initiative, Purbasha Roy, CEFR, Project Head at Kotak Education Foundation, said: “At KEF, we believe in providing a holistic education that fosters confidence, creativity, and social awareness. This approach prepares them to thrive in an interconnected world."
The performances left a lasting impression on the audience, with students seamlessly weaving sustainability themes into their adaptations, making the storytelling both impactful and thought-provoking. The event not only reinforced KEF’s commitment to education beyond classrooms but also empowered students to voice their perspectives on global challenges.
