Tata Steel Meramandali Celebrates World No Tobacco Day

Every year, No Tobacco Day is observed on May 31. As per the theme for this year, ‘’We need food, not tobacco" the Regional Initiative for Sexual Health by Today's Adolescent (RISHTA) project of Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) Meramandali took the initiative to educate the youth and empower them to spread awareness among the nearby villagers of the plant, located in Narednrapur of Dhenkanal, on the subject. 

Apart from the awareness programme, to mark this occasion, the RISHTA team organized a drawing competition on the theme of "no tobacco use with its interpretation" in the villages of Odapada block.  The event witnessed active participation of nearly 100 participants, including both boys and girls, aged 10-19, from eight villages of Kalanga, Bangurusing, Gunadei, and youth of Sibapur Panchayat.

The competition was successfully organized by the dedicated efforts of Adolescent Health Facilitators (AHFs) Amulya Behera, Priyadarsini Behera, Priyanka Behera, and Shrinibas Behera, with assistance from Binita Toppo and Subash Behera. The participants were communicated on the risks associated with tobacco usage and its adverse effects on health.

Along with all these events, on this similar occasion, TSM Medical Services organised an oral health screening camp at its G-4 residential area. In this camp, around 56 people took part and did their oral health check-ups.
