Azim Premji University invites applications for Postgraduate Diploma in Development Leadership for mid to senior level development practitioners.

This programme is designed to enable development professionals to prepare themselves for leadership roles in their organisations. It aims to advance participants’ understanding of development leadership beyond programmatic considerations, by helping them anchor their rich experiences within a broader understanding of civil society and its trajectories. This 11-month programme will be conducted in blended mode with a few weeks on campus and the rest online.

Eligibility Criteria- 

Undergraduate degree in any discipline 


Eight or more years of work in any domain of the development sector, preferably with marginalized groups in urban or rural locations


Fluency in English (reading, written, spoken) Currently in leadership roles in their respective organisations, or likely to move into such roles within the next three years


Consent and recommendation from the applicant’s current employer.

About the Organisation- 

The Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) was established in 1979 at Anand, Gujarat to provide management education, training, research and consulting-advisory support to co-operatives and rural development organisations in India. Based on the successful experience of producer collectives in the dairy sector, first in Gujarat, and extended across the country through Operation Flood, the principles of cooperation were extended to other commodity sectors such as oilseeds, fruits and vegetables, forestry, and fisheries with IRMA playing an active role in providing the knowledge base and managerial insights on effective rural organisations for rural transformation.

About the Program- 

The Fellow Programme in Management (Rural Management) – FPM (RM) is a unique program from IRMA since 2002. IRMA’s doctoral programme is envisaged as a centre of excellence in interdisciplinary research education. The goals of the programme are to:

Promote scholarship and build knowledge in the field of Rural Management.

Develop scholars and teachers in Rural Management; and 

Stimulate academic and research work in IRMA.

Eligibility Criteria- 

Anybody with a postgraduate or postgraduate equivalent degree/diploma from a recognized university or institution in any discipline with minimum first-class marks or equivalent grade can apply. (relaxation of 5% for SC / ST / OBC-NC / Differently Abled Person). Those expecting to complete the final exams of these degrees by July 01 2022 may also apply.

Having valid scores/results of the last five years in any of the following standard qualifying exams or tests: CAT, GMAT/GRE, UGC-JRF/NET, CSIR-JRF/NET, ICAR-SRF, ICAR/ASRB-NET or GATE.

The candidate will be shortlisted based on CAT/MAT/GMAT/CMAT/XAT scores. Candidates who have not appeared for the above exams can take the TERI SAS common entrance test.

Candidates with more than 2 years of relevant work experience may be exempted from requirement (2) above depending on the discretion of the selection committee.
