About the Organization

Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council was established in 2018, representing a new milestone in Qatar’s research, development and innovation (RDI) agenda.

The Council’s first mission was to develop a national strategy that would optimize RDI activities and help realize the country’s overarching goals and ambitions. The Council accomplished this mission at the end of 2019, having drafted the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Strategy 2030. The Council brings together prominent national and international figures from across government, industry and academia and draws on the wealth of knowledge and expertise of individuals from varied disciplines.

About the Grant  

Effective communication between the Deaf community and hearing individuals remains challenging, as existing solutions rely on outdated systems and limited datasets, failing to capture the nuances of sign language. A transformative and inclusive approach is urgently needed to bridge this gap.

Your Mission:

Develop an AI-powered translation system using Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance accessibility for sign language and individuals with communication difficulties. Your solution should feature real-time captioning, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, voice modulation, an expert UI for refining translations, and an API for seamless platform integration.

MADA Center is looking for solution providers that can help to develop an AI-powered accessibility solution for language translation and communication for sign language and persons with communication difficulties.

This ideal solution should therefore aim to develop a cutting-edge Machine Translation system for Sign Language and Persons with Communication Difficulties, powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), complemented by additional AI-driven tools to support communication for individuals with disabilities. The innovation lies not only in the translation capabilities but also in the integration of complementary features like text-to-speech, speech-to-text systems, real-time captioning, and voice modulation to enhance accessibility for a broader audience.
