About the Organization

The STDF’s global network brings together leading trade, health and agriculture experts worldwide to address persistent and emerging SPS challenges, and drive forward joined-up solutions. It acts as a knowledge hub, sharing available know-how, tools and good practice to build on what exists. At the same time, the STDF creates synergies with related initiatives, and promotes innovative and cross-cutting approaches to SPS capacity building.

To kick-start new ways of building knowledge and capacity on SPS requirements, the STDF provides funding to both develop and deliver innovative, cross-cutting projects. STDF projects help public and private sector stakeholders in developing countries improve food safety, animal and plant health to facilitate safe trade. Projects often work as catalysts, bringing on board diverse partners and funding to support longer-term impact.

About the Grant

The STDF offers project preparation grants (PPGs) up to US$50,000 to prepare technically sound and sustainable projects. These PPGs can involve the application of SPS-related capacity evaluation tools, preparation of feasibility studies and/or formulation of project proposals to address specific SPS capacity building needs linked to trade. Resulting projects may receive funding from the STDF, or from other funding sources. Applicants are encouraged to consult other potential donors when developing and implementing PPG applications.

The STDF offers grants up to US$ 1,000,000 for projects that improve food safety, animal and plant health capacity to comply with international sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) requirements. These grants are expected to help address particular SPS challenges or issues that affect trade to international markets.

Beneficiaries must contribute to the project from their own resources, either in the form of financing or in-kind contributions such as staff time, use of premises, vehicles or other already existing assets.

Eligibility
