About the Organization

The Soho House Foundation was set up by Soho House in 2022 to further the company’s social impact goal; to remove barriers to access the creative industries for people from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds.

Soho House has always brought people together to share ideas and help each other flourish, and the foundation aims to use this same thinking to fund and empower creatives to pursue their dreams.

To fund the charities’ grant programme, Soho House makes an annual donation which is distributed as grants to four partner organisations working in communities local to the Houses, each year.

About the Grant

The Soho House Foundation exists to provide resources to fund and empower creatives from underrepresented and lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

The creative industries today don’t accurately represent our society. Underrepresented groups in the creative economy, based on ethnicity or socioeconomic background, face barriers to succeed. As a global membership platform for creatives, we can see first-hand the benefits of providing opportunities for diverse talent to flourish. We’re passionate about using the knowledge and network we’ve built to open doors in the industry for people who are otherwise shut out.

The Soho House Foundation is an independent charitable entity set up by Soho House to fund and empower creatives to flourish by providing grants to organisations working worldwide. The company has pledged to make an annual donation because we believe in a world where being a successful creative is a viable life choice, not just a privileged one. We’re excited to partner with programmes making that a reality.

Since the beginning of 2023 we have worked with 8 charity partners across North America, the UK, Europe and Asia, funding organisations that are doing brilliant work in the communities local to our Houses and members.

Our 2024 grant programme is aimed at increasing access to the arts and creative industries for people who face economic or other barriers to inclusion.

We would like to hear from charitable organisations who are making an impact in this area in communities where Soho House has a presence.

Target age group:

Our primary focus is on young people from school age to 27 years old – but we are flexible.  We will also fund projects that support creatives of any age who have previously faced social or economic barriers to inclusion and missed out on opportunities to progress.

Funding available:

Our grant programme spans cities across the globe, reflecting the locations of Soho House. In 2024, there are 4 grants of £25,000 available. A maximum of one grant per year will be made in any one geographical region.

Eligibility

We are looking from impactful charitable organisations who have creativity and inclusion at their core, along with a proven track record in programme delivery. To find out more about the type of work we fund, please review the programmes we supported in 2023.

Applicant organisations will be assessed on criteria including:

  • Their ability to provide transformative opportunities for young creatives
  • The way the programme will address inequality of opportunity
  • The geographical location of the programme
  • The inclusivity of their organisation
  • Their track record in delivering impactful programmes.
  • The effectiveness of the way their organisation is managed

We prefer to support programmes run by smaller organisations, located in communities close to the point of programme delivery. We do not insist on being the sole funder of a project. We expect the grant to be used before the end of August 2025.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide bursaries or to fund individual artists with this grant programme.

How to Apply

We aim to avoid burdening organisations with a complex application process. We ask for a short initial expression of interest to confirm your organisation’s eligibility. Eligible groups will then be invited to complete an application form describing the impact our grant funding would make for the young creatives your organisation supports.
