About the Organization

For 70 years now, iF Design is known for outstanding design and social engagement. Our events and exhibitions celebrate just that. The iF DESIGN AWARD is a major seal of design excellence around the world. In addition, our iF Design Trend Report summarizes the influence of major transformations on current global design and provides a holistic overview of cross-disciplinary design trends in relation to the most important technological and social trends.

Founded in 2018, the non-profit iF Design Foundation is the only shareholder of iF International Forum Design GmbH and its subsidiaries. The Foundation’s goal is to promote design and its social significance away from economic conditions or constraints. It is committed to the common good, dedicating resources and expertise to scientific research and education in the context of design. The iF Design Foundation replaced the iF Industrie Forum Design e.V., which operated from 1953 to 2018.

Mission:

Our mission is to support academic research and education, culture, social engagement, environmental awareness, and sustainability. The iF Design Foundation provides financial support for selected design projects as well as initiating its own projects, conferences, and more.

In addition, the iF Design Foundation will cooperate with other design-oriented foundations and non-profits in order to pool resources, develop and realize joint projects.

The outcomes of the foundation's activities will be regularly documented and published.

About the Grant

The iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE supports projects that contribute to improving our society. If you work towards achieving one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, your project is eligible.

Applying is free of charge. Every year iF Design donates EUR 100,000 to support the best projects submitted to the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE. Your project should already be established and you can apply with the same project a maximum of two times. Student concepts will not be accepted.

Social projects that are supported with the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE benefit from this:

• A share of EUR 100,000
• Publication on our iF Design Website
• They will be presented to a global design community, the design-interested public and the media.
• The projects selected by the jury receive an individual winner certificate.
