The Foundation’s vision is to contribute towards a more just, equitable, humane and sustainable society. Its work is focused on India.

NORE set up the Foundation in 1988. Over the past years, he has irrevocably donated most of his wealth for philanthropic purposes and created a philanthropic endowment valued (as of Jan 2023) at approximately (INR 600 crore) to fund the work of the Foundation.

The Foundation does extensive and deep ‘on-the-ground’ work across the country – both directly through its own operations and through partners. The work spans education to other important areas of equity and human well-being.

Mission

NORE Foundation is a charitable incubator. Our NORE Cause leaders burn with desire to make a positive change on the world. We believe that the best way of doing that is by helping others help themselves- and giving those in need a hand up, not just a handout. We look to work with leaders of all ages with a business school brain, an entrepreneur’s spirit, and a social worker’s heart.

We understand the blind spots and challenges experienced while doing good work. From getting projects off the ground to executing on a plan, we improve the chances of a project’s success.

We work closely with our NORE Cause leaders to plan for their success. Through mentoring and training, we help our Causes achieve the goals of their mission.

SUPPORT SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL ORGANIZATIONS

Since 1988, NORE Foundation has helped others be the change they want to see in the world through a fiscal sponsor model. A Fiscal Sponsorship enables individuals or groups with big ideas to do their good work under the nonprofit umbrella. We call the leaders of these groups -   social entrepreneurs.   

By becoming a NORE Foundation “NORE Cause,” social entrepreneurs can use the NORE Foundation nonprofit infrastructure, administrative resources, and mentoring to ignite their project for social good.

Projects range from supporting the fight against cancer to championing veterans’ issues to battling homelessness and food insecurity. NORE Foundation’s leadership team assists in incubating those big ideas and bringing them to life in a supportive environment. Acting as a host for the NORE Cause’s effort is a win-win and allows us all to work together to be agents of change.

The NORE Foundation helps social entrepreneurs identify support for their plans, contributes resources to get them started, helps them market their initiatives, and provides an infrastructure that improves their chance of success.

About the Grant

NORE Foundation invites grant applications from early-stage, not-for-profit organisations working in Rajasthan from each district).

NORE Foundation’s vision is to contribute towards a more just, equitable, humane, and sustainable society. Our grants work is aligned with this vision and strongly built on our NORE values.

One of our goals is to foster vibrancy in the Civil Society ecosystem, enabling new people with new ideas, who are keen to contribute towards addressing the socio-economic development challenges of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities. We intend to support those who have recently set up organisations that work directly with vulnerable or marginalised communities in Rajasthan each district two project.

Our focus is on aiding early-stage organisations, registered on or after 1 April 2024, with small grants. This is the stage when organisations usually struggle to find financial support, limiting the possibility of innovation and new energy. This support will enable them to experiment, refine intervention design and plans, demonstrate early effects in the lives of people, and strengthen their organisational and financial systems and processes.

You must be someone (individual or small group) who has already been engaging in the social sector, having demonstrated commitment and effort, even in voluntary capacity in the past few years. 

Eligibility

Organisations that meet the below criteria are eligible to apply:

• Are registered as a Society / Trust / on or after 1 April 2020 (zero to 4 years since registration).
• Have valid 12A and 80G
• Have an average annual expenditure of INR 10 lakh or less.
• Have direct engagement with a vulnerable or marginalised community.
• Do NOT work directly in education or health (for example, running schools or coaching centres for children of vulnerable communities, running health centres in interior or backward areas). These are areas of work we do not support.
• Are NOT existing or past partners of the Foundation or already under consideration for a grant.

How to Apply

Eligible and interested organisations can apply as follows

Note: All applications will be reviewed in the order in which we receive them. Those shortlisted will be contacted by the team from the Foundation.

Program timeline: 

1. 10^th September 2024: Selected participants are notified and visit by our staff.
2. 28^th November 2024: Due diligence and onboarding.
3. 1^st December 2024: Program begins.
