About the Organization

The purpose of Ekhagastiftelsen is to promote human health by supporting the development of better food, natural medicines and healing practices, and to support research for a healthier way of life, which in itself may have a disease preventive effect.

A central idea is to focus more on preventive active care than reactive care to combat symptoms. The same applies to the agricultural and food areas where the focus should be to find methods that can prevent various problems instead of focusing on their manifestations.

The focus should not be on tackling problems, but rather finding ways to prevent their occurrence.

About the Grant

Ekhagastiftelsen (Ekhaga foundation) was founded by Gösta Videgård as early as 1944 and since then we have supported research in ecological agriculture and biological medicine.   Since 1999 we have awarded more than 189 million Swedish kronor to different research projects in agriculture and medicine.   On these pages we want to spread information about all the projects that we have founded. Today information is available for all projects since 2001. For project from 2004 and later there is even detailed information and such as a popular scientific project summary for all applications.

Time Table for Application

Fund are normally awarded once per year (September-October) and for 2022 the timetable is as follows:

• Last day for applications: May 20th 2022, which is the day we must have received the application.
• Applications must be sent by e-mail to info@ekhagastiftelsen.se.
• The signed application form must be sent by regular mail to Ekhagastiftelsen.
• Due to the Corona-pandemic applicants from outside of Sweden can send the signed application form by e-mail as a scanned PDF-file. We still need to receive the application form as a filled in PDF-form, so in this case two files with the application form will need to be sent by e-mail!
• NOTE! Messenger or courier services can not deliver to Post Office Boxes.
• If you want to deliver the application personally or by courier, please contact us by e-mail or by phone (+46 70 240 81 81) at least one week before the deadline.
• The scientific advisory council evaluates the applications.
• The scientific advisory council meets during August and compiles its recommendation.
• The board plans to take decisions on awards of funds at its meeting in early October.
• Letters are sent out to all applicants within one week after the meeting.
• Deadlline for next application round is May 20 next year.

 Who Can Apply

Ekhagastiftelsen does not have any restrictions regarding from which country an application can come. We accept applications from all over the world.

For applications that do not come from Europe we strongly recommend that you have a reserach cooperation with a swedish institution where the partner is involved in the research project. Please be sure to describe the details of the cooperation.

We do not have any formal requirements that applications can only come from institutions (universities, colleges, research institutions, etc.).

It is possible to apply for scholarships, but these are normally only granted for research related projects. We do not sponsor basic education at university level.
