Call for Expressions of Interest, Research Partner for the Safe and Sound (S²Cities) Program

The Safe and Sound Cities Programme is looking for a Global Research Partner.

Do you study youth engagement and power plays in urban policy and planning? Do you study the social dynamics between the built environment and urban safety? Are you interested in promoting safer cities for young people to thrive in? If these questions resonate with your work, then please refer to the following call for Expressions of Interest (EOI).

The Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation (GIB), on behalf of the Safe and Sound Cities Programme, is looking for a research partner to participate in a hands-on programme on youth participation in urban planning for urban safety and wellbeing in secondary cities of the Global South.

Researchers of urban studies are invited to submit expressions of interest to support the development, implementation, and learnings of the Safe and Sound Cities Programme (S²Cities) and its global team. In particular, the programme is looking for a partner that helps shape a research agenda that is suitable, relevant and that supports the programme’s scalability potential. GIB welcomes proposals related to one or a combination of the programme’s three core themes:

• Youth participation in urban planning and decision-making
• Holistic urban agendas of safety, security and wellbeing for young people
• Sustainable and inclusive built environments through placemaking

Research teams are encouraged to submit EOIs that address one or, preferably, a combination of the stated themes. Preselected EOIs will be invited to submit a full proposal. GIB will accept EOIs, submitted in English, until 22 December 2022 at 23:59 CET.
