The branch office of CIFOR-ICRAF Asia Continental Program (ACP) of ICRAF in New Delhi is looking forward for the data collection firm for Quantitative data collection for the Andhra Pradesh Community-based Natural Farming (APCNF) Scaling Program

 

The data collection exercise is a follow-up to the first wave of data collection that took place in late 2018. This current round of data collection will involve the administration of household surveys in the 485 villages/Gram Panchayats (GPs) that were part of the first data collection wave, as well as representative sample of approximately 324 additional GPs. The total sample size expected for this assignment will be 8,400 FFs. The interviews are expected to take 50-60 minutes to complete.

 

The focus of the Consultancy is to organize, execute, and manage the quality and efficient administration of the survey instrument, developed using the ODK/Survey CTO platform. The consultant/firm will not be responsible for data analysis but will be expected to have strong systems in place to ensure data quality.

 

Main Consultancy Tasks:

  • Lead the recruitment of household survey enumeration teams that will operate in all 13 of AP’s districts.
  • To support the review and check the translation of the primary data collection instrument, which will be in the Open Data Kit (ODK) format but managed using the SurveyCTO platform.
  • To organize, support, and co-lead the training of enumeration teams, as well as ‘pre-test’ (enumerator practice) exercises.
  • To organize, manage, and supervise household survey enumeration teams as they carry out their work.
  • To closely review and monitor the work of the enumeration teams and only permit the uploading of completed forms once they are completed to standard.
  • To readily and professionally act on feedback received from the monitoring and auditing work of Quality Review Team throughout the entire data collection period, while effectively resolving unanticipated operational challenges

Qualifications and competencies

  • Proven track record of leading the administration of large-scale data collection exercises, preferably using mobile data collection technology and with experience working in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh.
  • A suitable core team with relevant university qualifications, preferably at the master’s level or higher, each willing and able to lead enumeration teams in designated enumeration areas throughout the duration of the assignment.
  • Telugu proficiency of at least some core team members assigned to each enumeration area highly preferred.
  • Ability to mobilize the team and resources needed to initiate activities and data collection as per the given timeline.
  • Prior experience of working in AP in agricultural data collection will be an advantage.
  • Applicable taxes will be deducted as per Govt of India laws.
