About CISSD:

CARE India Solutions for Sustainable Development (CISSD) a company registered under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 (now section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013) having its corporate office at New MDBP Building, National Small Industries Corporation, 411, 4th Floor, Okhla Industrial Area, Phase 3, New Delhi, Delhi 110020”. CISSD is a not-for-profit organization, focusing on alleviating poverty and social injustice through well planned and comprehensive projects in health, education, livelihoods and disaster preparedness and response. 

CARE India is implementing a project The ‘’Enhancing Entitlements, Education, Health & Women Economic Empowerment’” focuses to address the STEM learning needs of children enrolled at government schools of Ponneri Taluka in Tamil Nadu, with a special emphasis on learning losses that have occurred due to education disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project uses learning tools like games, simulations, hands-on activities, projects, etc., to establish a strong connection between school science and mathematics curriculum and children’s lived realities. In the long term, the project seeks to build scientific temper and mathematical abilities in children such that they can apply these skills to improve their everyday lives and also pursue STEM based career paths.

This assignment will be focused on the translation of science and mathematics learning resources. A number of self-learning resources are available and developed by CARE India to address the learning losses in children. These materials are in English and Hindi and have been used in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka previously.  These learning materials are now required to be translated in easy to comprehend Tamil for children residing in Ponneri Taluka of Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility Criteria

Bidders fulfilling the eligibility criteria are invited to participate in the bidding process and to this effect must produce the required supportive documents /information as part of their technical proposal. 

Who can apply: 

• Individual consultant / a lead consultant with a team of consultants/any registered organization.
• Have experience in translation from English and Hindi to Tamil. At least three similar assignments of translating educational materials for schools
• Basic knowledge/understanding of Science and Maths curriculam for Government school students in Tamil Nadu
• Must have sound knowledge in English, Hindi and Tamil (Speak, read, write and with excellent translating skills)
• Graduate/ Postgraduate in any discipline
