About the Organization

SBI Foundation (SBIF) was incorporated to bring all the CSR activities of State Bank Group under one umbrella and contribute in the efforts made by the State Bank Group to support and uplift the underprivileged sections of society. SBI Foundation’s work through its flagship program, SBIF CONSERW – ‘Conservation Through Sustainable Engagements, Restoration and Wildlife Protection’, is geared towards achieving the UN SDG 6 ‘’Clean Water and Sanitation”, SDG 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy”, SDG 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, SDG 13 “Climate Action”, SDG 14 “Life Below Water” and SDG 15 “Life on Land”.

The SBIF CONSERW program works primarily in the following 4 themes:

  • Sustainable Waste Management.
  • Wildlife Protection
  • Renewable Energy
  • Restoration and Conservation of Ecosystems

About the Proposal

The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to invite potential grantees with a proven track record to implement projects in the thematic area of restoration of mangroves in the coastal belts of India for a period of 2-3 years starting from FY 2024-25.

SBI Foundation hereby invites proposals seeking funding under SBIF CONSERW: for restoration of mangroves in the coastal belts of India. The budget for a proposal should be in the range of Rs.1.00 Cr.to Rs. 4.50 Cr. for a support period ranging from 2 to 3 years.

Scope of Work

The proposed project under SBIF CONSERW should be in the thematic area of restoration of mangroves in the coastal belts of India. Under this, the project must align with the below-mentioned framework.

Thematic Area: Mangrove Restoration

Framework

The following framework needs to be followed while preparing the project implementation plan.

  • Baseline / study – Conduct baseline study of the potential mangrove restoration sites.
  • Identification and finalization of land – Finalization of land for the restoration activities.
  • Government approvals – Obtain necessary approvals from government and local authorities for restoration activities.
  • Plantation and gap filling activities – Plantation and re plantation of mangroves and other similar shrubs in the coastal belt to keep the coastal ecosystem sustained.
  • Partnership and Liaison – To establish partnerships for knowledge sharing with active players or government organizations working for the restoration of mangroves.
  • Other activities – Other activities included scoping study in other geographies, mid line or end line study of the project, livelihood activities etc.

Locations: Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Odisha and West Bengal
