RFP - Master Trainer Manual on Life Skills

About the Organization:

Room to Read is a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. They work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations, and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions.

About the Assignment:

 Room to Read is planning to roll out Master Trainer training in selected states in India and for the purpose of the same is planning to hire a consultant or consulting firms who will be developing a 20 hours long Master Trainer Training Manual on Life Skills in English and also will be delivering 20 Hours longs training to Room to Read’s internal Resource Pool.

Scope of Work:

Conceptualization:

• The consultant/ agency will be expected to conceptualize the manual for instruction of the master trainers in way so that the same could be delivered in Training of the Trainer (TOT) model and in 3 days/ 20 hours.  The manual will be developed in line with the topics/ pointers/ base content provided to the consultant by the point person from Room to Read.
• The consultant/ agency will be expected to read the content thoroughly and be on top of it so that the training manual can be robust. The whole conceptualization exercise will be done by the consultant/ agency independently based on the topics/ pointers/ base content shared by RtR point person. Necessary support will be provided by Room to Read during the conceptualization exercise.

Content Development:

• The consultant/ agency is expected to create, develop and write the finalized relevant content in form of narrative, story lines or any other relevant form. The consultant/agency will create content for each section that will be finalized in consultation with RtR. Relevant content for any required IECs need to be developed by the consultant. Mother file will need to be developed in English. The files must relay the same essence and must be error free and perspective wise strong – especially from a gender lens.
• The consultant/ agency will undertake content and copy editing and proof reading ensuring that the content is error free, relevant and is aligned to the mandate and vision of the exercise in both languages.
• The consultant/ agency needs to develop the content keeping the gender lens in mind.

Note: Room to Read will provide the life skills sessions along with the life skills framework to the consultant/ agency and the consultant/ agency is expected to draft the MT Manual in line with the content of the life skills sessions.

Tools:

• The consultant/ agency is expected to conceptualize the ideas for pre and post-test tool (in MS WORD) and develop the same for assessing the impact of the manuals.
• The consultant/ agency is also expected to develop a feedback tool which will be administered with the participants to understand the areas of improvement for the trainers and also the content.

Training on the MT Manual:

• The consultant/ agency is expected to conceptualize and deliver 20 hours long virtual training to Room to Read’s internal team on the MT manual. 

Key Deliverables:

• Post the conceptualization exercise, the consultant/ firm will share a one pager note/ illustrative demo/ visual document of the envisioned final copy of the manual for further discussion and finalization of the document.
• Final written content of manuals in English proofread, typed, print ready and approved by RtR. The English should be of daily speaking or easily understandable.
• The pre and post test tools along with Feedback tool.
• 20 Hours long virtual training of RTR internal team.

The consultant/ agency will need to provide services to complete all the above tasks in a given timeframe as outlined in this ToR and as will be mutually agreed to during the contract finalization. The consultant/ agency will be expected to ideate on the kinds of material that can be created / put together and come to a final list in consultation and agreement with the point person at RtR. The qualities of the final product and the timely submission of outputs will be the key performance indicators.

Experiences Needed for Assignment:

• Professional Consultant / agency with demonstrated experience in creating innovative content development relating to children, girl’s education and development issues and life skills.
• Knowledge and work experience on content development using innovative ways.
• Creativity and innovation are a must.
• Ability to work independently and to meet the given deadlines and adhere to the RtR guidelines.
• Must be excellent in written and spoken English
• Experience of working with Room to Read India in content development domain will be given preferences.
• Experience in providing training in the domain of life skills
