The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry – ICRAF (also known by the brand name ‘World Agroforestry Centre’) is a Centre of scientific excellence that harnesses the benefits of trees for people and the environment. Leveraging the world’s largest repository of agroforestry science and information, we develop knowledge practices, from farmers’ fields to the global sphere, to ensure food security and environmental sustainability. ICRAF's work also addresses many of the issues being tackled by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aim to eradicate hunger, reduce poverty, provide affordable and clean energy, and protect life on land and combat climate change. We receive our funding from a wide range of investors, including governments, private foundations, international organizations, and regional development banks and TOFI program is fully funded by USAID. Our work is conducted with partners from several scientific and development institutions. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, ICRAF operates six regional programs and conducts research in 33 other countries around the developing world.

About the Proposal

The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry – ICRAF (also known by the brand name ‘World Agroforestry Centre’) invites proposals for upgradation of nursery at BIOTRIM, Tirupati.

Background:

CIFOR-ICRAF is leading the implementation of the Trees Outside Forests in India (TOFI).

Program - a five-year joint initiative by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of the Government of India. The TOFI program aims to expand the area under trees outside forests to enhance livelihoods and ecosystem services across seven participating states, namely Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

One of the key deliverables under the program is to set up/ upgrade existing plant nurseries in the implementing states to enable easy access to Quality Planting Material (QPM). The proposed nursery upgradation in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh aims to enhance and expand the existing nursery facilities to support large-scale production of seedlings and tissue culture seeding. CIFOR-ICRAF is looking for eligible vendors to undertake the upgradation work of the nursery as per the scope of work.

Scope of Work

• Construction of New Lath House: Building new lath house to provide a controlled environment for seedling growth.
• Fabrication of Poly Propagators: Setting up poly propagators for efficient seedling production.
• Bore-well Digging: Digging a bore-well to ensure a consistent water supply for the nursery.
• Establishment of Mist Chamber: Creating mist chamber for rootformation and plant acclimatization.
• Repair of Old Lath House
• Supply of Root Trainers, Trays, stands etc.

Delivery & Installation Timeline - 30 Days, effective immediately upon signing of award.

Eligibility

• Firms Firm should be a Private Limited Company and/or proprietorship, in the business of Construction and Upgradation works in Nurseries.
• Demonstrated experience in constructing and upgrading nursery infrastructure - Minimum 3 years
• Business Registration - Any firm registered under Indian law
