RFQ - Impact Assessment of Small Holder Farmer Training

Organization: Bayer Prayas

Apply By: 14 Dec 2020

During the pandemic, in order to help small holder farmers “Grow better and Earn more” Bayer Prayas Association was mandated to drive the capacity building of the farmers which is nearing completion. We have worked with multiple NGO Partners, FPOs and Women self-help groups to achieve the objectives of both phases of the project reaching out to 200,000 smallholder farmers. The states covered under this project are majorly Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madya Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

As part of the capacity building sessions different models have been utilized -

  •  Master training sessions for the partner organizations
  •  Partner organizations training the farmer
  •  Implementing agency training the farmers with support from the partner organizations

Given the pandemic situation, the master training sessions were conducted virtually. The trainings were provided by members of the market development team and Bayer Prayas Association. Farmer trainings were done on the identified model plots in the field at two stages of the crop – at the peak growth stage/flowering stage and at the time of harvest. All the trainings included appropriate agronomic practices and advisory for the respective crops, Covid and on-farm safety, safe use and stewardship and control of vector borne diseases. The project was implemented with an aim to support small holder farmers to adopt appropriate farming practices and improve their earnings.
