The Centre for Community Economics and Development Consultants Society (CECOEDECON) is one of Rajasthan's leading civil society organizations. It's early footprints in the area of disaster relief have eventually progressed into imprinting its presence in more than 15 districts across the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The organization has evolved, from a needs-based approach to rights-based approach, into a civil society organization focusing on economic justice, livelihood security, basic rights, institution development and civil society building, underpinned by integrated participatory development.

The organization has worked since 1982 towards Promoting Inclusion, making Communities Resilient, Empowering Women, Children, Smallholder Farmers, Landless Youth and Tribals with gender sensitivity as cross-cutting through its innovative interventions in areas ranging from Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Livelihoods, Climate Change, Fair Trade, Disaster Management, Seed Sovereignty, Land Rights, Health, Nutrition, Education, Women and Child Rights and Human Rights.

About the Proposal

CECODEOCN with technical and financial support from UNFPA is implementing a project on “Enhancing Health/Reproductive Health and Counselling component of Adolescent Girls through School Health Programme in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya(s) KGBV schools in Rajasthan”. The Project is named as Pankh Project.

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya(s) are established in the backward blocks of the state where female literacy is low and adolescent girls from poor socio-economic background stays. In Rajasthan, there are 319 KGBVs and out of these 186 schools are in the blocks where there is higher drop out of adolescent girls resulting in lower literacy rate of women. Similarly, 14 KGBVs are in places where there is a higher percentage of minority population.

The implementation of project initiated in 2022 with the objective of reaching out to adolescent girls from marginalized communities on age-appropriate gender-based life skills information related to health, especially sexual reproductive health. The intervention is based on the life skills approach and include participatory, learner centric pedagogies. Further, counselling support is being provided to adolescent girls.

It is expected that the intervention will help to strengthen the capacities of adolescent girls to make informed decisions related to their health and well-being, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, challenge discrimination and manage their lives in a healthy and constructive manner.

The major objectives of the project include:

  • To build capacities of the teachers, wardens and peer educators of the KGBV Schools and hostels to transact the health curriculum using life skills approach to provide age-appropriate information about health and nutrition to the adolescent girls in schools
  • To enhance the knowledge among the adolescent girls on information on health, nutrition    and sexual & reproductive health and services related to it
  • To establish mentoring system for enhancing knowledge and skills of teachers, wardens and peer educators for high e quality transaction of the curriculum by building the capacities of the identified mentors
  • To enhance the access to the counselling services for the adolescents through multiple strategies through a combination of both online and onsite counselling approaches.

Scope of Work

This assignment to produce a high-quality Human-interest stories booklet must feature:

  • Illustrating the tangible impact of the UNFPA/CECODECON’s work in the KGBVs of Rajasthan by highlighting stories of adolescent girls (the key stakeholder of the program), showcasing the transformative power of social initiatives
  • Sharing stories of those directly impacted by the project, the photo booklet amplifies their voices and provides a platform for marginalized or underrepresented communities.
  • Stories capturing shift in narratives on priority areas, i.e., Sexual and Reproductive Health, Menstrual Health, Hygiene and Management, Gender Equality and services/support received through counselling.
  • Incorporating photographs alongside stories adds a visual dimension, enhancing engagement and bringing the narratives to life for the audience.

Specific tasks for the Service Provider

With assistance from the core team of UNFPA/CECODECON, the selected agency will be required to do the following:

  • Develop a framework of Photo Booklet and structure of stories representation
  • Based on the list of case stories shared by CECOEDECON outline key stakeholders, change makers and beneficiaries.
  • Develop the narrative (Hindi and English) and photo documentation of identified 20-25 human-interest stories.

Visit KGBV (20-25 nos) and interact with the Stakeholders/beneficiaries who have been impacted by the Pankh programme, conduct interviews and gather information from individuals featured in the stories. The project will cover KGBV of all the three types (i.e., Type I, III, IV)

Write engaging narratives that resonate with the audience and reflect the project's values.

Incorporate quotes, anecdotes, and visuals to enhance storytelling.

  • Perform appropriate photo-shoot with the projects’ beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Take high-quality photographs, design illustrations, and graphics to accompany each story.

Ensure that visuals adhere to ethical guidelines and respect the dignity and privacy of individuals.

Provide captions and credits for all visual elements used in the booklet.

  • Design and Layout of Booklet

Create a visually appealing and cohesive layout for the photo booklet.

Incorporate branding elements and project imagery to maintain consistency.

  • Share drafts of the photo booklet with CECOEDECON and UNFPA for review and feedback.
  • Incorporate suggestions and revisions to refine the content, design, and layout.
  • Seek approval for the final version before proceeding to production.
  • Produce  final booklet containing stories and photographs in Hindi and English

Deliverables

  • Framework and structure of Booklet and stories respectively
  • 20-25 human stories documented in Hindi and English along with filled consent forms
  • Mater copies of photographs, illustrations and graphics finalized for booklet
  • Editable designed photo booklet file/ folder
  • Submit soft copies and 5 hard copies of the human-interest story booklet in Hindi and English.

Eligibility

The service provider will be required to have the following:

  • More than 5 years of experience working in similar field
  • Extensive experience in producing development work related documents for publication and documentaries for international organisations with the aim of reaching both local and international audiences
  • Local knowledge of the State and languages in Rajasthan
  • Technical capacities to develop narrative of impact stories in both Hindi and English language
  • Excellent technical capacities to ensure smooth and high-quality production
  • Should have relevant experience of working with UN agency, government.
