Room to Read India in its annual flagship Girls’ Education Program campaign #HarKadamBetiKeSang, will celebrate Adolescents as Changemakers from November 11 to 22, 2024. This two-week campaign will feature initiatives in schools and communities, emphasizing how life skills empower adolescent girls to exercise and celebrate their agency. It aims to create an enabling ecosystem for girls' education and promote gender equality. Across seven intervention states, the campaign will highlight the importance of life skills in bridging gender inequalities and recognize adolescents' roles as catalysts for change.

We are currently accepting proposals from production houses or agencies that can curate and produce a campaign video, capturing the real-time activities happening simultaneously at different field locations. Through this video, Room to Read India aims to showcase the field-led initiatives and highlight that teachers act as catalysts in creating an ecosystem for children to read, learn and grow. Additionally, the agency needs to promote the developed video on their own social media platforms to increase the reach and engagement of Room to Read India’s presence and work.

Scope of Work

The production house will produce a campaign video. They will be responsible for all stages of the film production i.e., scripting, filming, editing, voice-over/narration, graphics, etc., and deliver a final product in broadcast standards and full HD quality.

Deliverables

  • One long version video – between 4-5 minutes
  • One shortened and compressed version – up to 2 minutes
  • Final Script for the video
  • Raw Footage of the video
  • Selected still shots of the production
  • Un-mix master with separate tracks
  • Final film with mixed audio and graphics
  • English subtitling of the entire video
  • Voice-over/narration (if required)
  • Room to Read India is to be consulted and its feedback is to be incorporated at each stage of the video development process
  • At least 5 years of production work experience in the field of filmmaking especially working with development sector clientele
  • Access to high-quality filming, light, sound, and editing equipment
  • Ability to communicate with teachers, school authorities and community members in Hindi (and if required, regional languages like Telugu and Marathi)
  • Presence at all the seven Girls’ Education Program intervention states is desired
  • Macro-influential social media platform to promote the produced video

Experience

Aspiring production houses/agencies should be able to provide relevant samples of past work.

Duration/shooting dates and places

The agency is expected to begin work immediately upon signing the contract. A detailed work plan, the blueprint of the shoot, a rough script, and a timeline should be submitted to Room to Read as soon as possible.

The shoot will be conducted during the campaign timelines (November 11-22, 2024) and in Room to Read India’s intervention areas only. The seven intervention states are –Chhattisgarh, Delhi NCR, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand. The duration* of the shoot at each location will be at least one day. Along with this, a mandatory event to capture at all locations in Kishori Mela.

The video will be released at the culminating event of the campaign scheduled on November 26, 2024. Hence, the agency is expected to deliver the final product by November 24, 2024.

*Duration is subject to change depending on activity timelines.

Role of Room to Read India

Room to Read India will be responsible for

  • Sharing location-specific activity timelines with the agency
  • Connecting the agency with the local team members for shooting
  • Overseeing materials and processes developed by the agency and providing feedback at each step of the process
  • Share guidance on formalizing operational aspects of the video scripting, shoot, and production, including scope and scale

Technical Evaluation Criteria

Room to Read will evaluate the profiles based on the following criteria:

  • Experience of working in the development sector (5 marks)
  • Technical competence (Understanding of the project, knowledge and use of production equipment’s, pre-production planning and post-production expertise, experience in storytelling, scriptwriting, and crafting compelling narratives to engage target audiences) (10 marks)
  • Understanding of the project (5 marks)
  • Work samples (5 marks)

  • Kindly submit two separate emails with the following subject lines:

  • The agency should apply with the following:
  • TECHNICAL PROPOSAL 
    • A technical proposal will outline the way this assignment will be approached.
    • Cite relevant work experience and samples of work- any stories, articles, or previously designed materials specially made for adolescent audiences.
    • The proposal should mention the timeline for completing the deliverables.
    • Detailed CV of all the consultants involved in this project.
  • FINANCIAL PROPOSAL
    • Detailed financial proposal.
    • Copy of registration certificate, GST, MSME, PAN Card of the organization and owners, etc.
    • Read the ToR thoroughly before applying.
    • Pricing should include the above requirements.
    • Only Shortlisted agency will be contacted and might be called for a face-to-face interaction with the panel.
    • Any incomplete application or process deviation, the proposals will automatically be rejected.

Proposal received after the prescribed deadline will not be considered.

The TDS will be applicable as per GoI.

Selected agency will be required to sign and abide by the Child Protection policy of Room to Read.
