As part of work we are working on a project on digital agriculture, that aims to modernize production systems, agribusiness infrastructure, and market links for farmers, that could significantly enhance farmer incomes and livelihoods.

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced person to join our team to be based in Lucknow and drive the work on digital agriculture through our partnership with state government. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving the digital transformation of agricultural practices. The project will leverage technology solutions to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and productivity in the agricultural sector, with ultimate aim of increasing farmer's income. The project will focus on two broad objectives over next 2-3 years that will be targeted on specific value chains in state.

Objective 1: Enabling digital infrastructure in agriculture and horticulture sector . The aim is to bring in efficiency at all levels of agriculture market from production  to market linkages, that contribute to value creation and building resilience among farmers and other actors in the supply chain. This includes driving focus on effective deployment of digital public infrastructure and building hi-tech supply chain infrastructure complemented with capacity building that can help scale agritech use-case.

Objective 2: Enhance efficiency, sustainability, and quality of produce through integration of agri-tech use-cases in some key agriculture value chains and drive income for farmers especially women.

The project is working to bring together national and global agriculture value chain players working from input to offtake.

Responsibilities:

Work as part of program management team working in close proximity with state government, to drive activities' that contribute to achieve the above objectives, this range from:

1. Working to define implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation plan etc. for identified crop value chains including indictors of success.

2. Conduct due diligence and identify specific use cases for deployment of emerging technologies in the value chains.

3. Focus on building interventions that would directly contribute to increasing income of farmers collective specially women through market offtake, etc.

4. Facilitate meeting, awareness building, and project management with FPOs.

5. Identify and partner with start-ups and other ecosystem stakeholders to support project implementation.

6. Coordinate with government for required facilitation and enabling support as stated or required by industry partners.

7. Conduct initial benchmarking, undertake regular monitoring and evaluations, and report progress. Including organising regular project evaluation meetings with government and industry partners 

With the project the senior associate will focus on developing and implement strategies to integrate digital technologies into agricultural practices for improved efficiency and sustainability within the focus value chain. Stay updated on emerging trends in digital agriculture and recommend innovative solutions.  

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Computer Science, or a related field would be advantageous.

Proven experience of at-least 1 year in digital agriculture, digital transformation and/or the adoption of technology in agricultural practices (in case of Bachelor degree).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to undertake research and write reports.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with farmers and agricultural communities specially FPOs.

Familiarity with sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
