Role: As the Communication Coordinator, you will lead the charge in crafting compelling stories and communication strategies that amplify Utthan’s voice across digital, print, and grassroots platforms. You’ll work closely with leadership and field teams to bring the impact of our work to life for diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Communication Planning

  • Develop and implement an annual communication strategy aligned with Utthan’s organizational goals, campaigns, and programme priorities.
  • Identify key audiences and customize communication approaches for donors, partners, media, social followers, and community stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the KM team and leadership to prioritize storytelling themes, strategic communication moments, and events.

2. Content Creation & Knowledge Dissemination

  • Regularly produce high-quality content in English and regional languages for various channels: field stories, impact narratives, blogs, newsletters, website updates, and press materials.
  • Conceptualize, draft, and design key organizational publications like brochures, leaflets, annual reports, and learning documents.
  • Document programmatic learnings, case studies, testimonials, and photo-essays through close coordination with field teams.

3. Digital Media & Website Management

  • Manage and grow Utthan’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) through consistent, creative, and engaging posts.
  • Develop a monthly calendar for digital content in collaboration with field/program teams.
  • Update and maintain the organization’s website, ensuring regular addition of stories, reports, team updates, events, and visuals.

4. Audio-Visual Documentation & Campaigns

  • Design, script, and oversee audio-visual documentation, including short videos, reels, interviews, and field visuals.
  • Work with external professionals as needed to develop multimedia content.
  • Support in the conceptualization and execution of awareness campaigns, public events, and advocacy initiatives at local, regional, and national levels.

5. Capacity Building & Internal Support

  • Build the communication skills of team members, youth leaders, and federation/community leaders through basic training in photography, storytelling, and digital expression.
  • Create or adapt training materials, communication toolkits, and presentations for use in workshops and community engagements.
  • Provide support to internal teams for developing communication materials for programme activities.

6. Media & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and nurture media relationships; pitch stories and ensure coverage of key milestones/events.
  • Prepare and disseminate press releases, media kits, and respond to media queries in coordination with leadership.
  • Represent Utthan in external communication forums, collaborations, and alliances where relevant.

7. Communication Systems & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain a communication repository including photos, videos, templates, reports, logos, etc.
  • Set up systems to track communication outputs and engagement metrics across platforms.
  • Generate quarterly insights and recommendations based on communication data to inform future strategy.

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with programme leads, area managers, fundraising team, and KM team to align communication with organizational direction.
  • Support the Leadership Team with content, presentations, and talking points for conferences and public engagements.
  • Strengthen communication coordination between support office and field offices.

  • Must-Haves

βœ… Freshers with strong technical & story telling skills or candidates with minimum 1 year of experience (preferably in development sector)
βœ… Excellent writing and verbal skills in Gujarati; working knowledge of English (Ability to use AI for language-related tasks will be important.)
βœ… Ability to tell a compelling story, take decent photos and produce quality video content. understand social media algorithms, ability to use Canva, Video – editing & AI tools
βœ… Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively
