Cividep India is seeking an enterprising coordinator to join its Communications team. The  candidate should possess strong written and visual communication skills, which are crucial for  conveying Cividep’s mission to empower India’s low-wage workers and share their stories with   the public, partners, donors, and other stakeholders.  

About Cividep:
 Since 2000, Cividep has been dedicated to workers' rights and corporate  accountability. Based in Bangalore with field offices across South India, Cividep aims to safeguard  the rights of communities, particularly those employed in global supply chains.  

Role and Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will support the Director of Strategic Communications and the  Cividep India team by:  

  • Executing the communication requirements of assigned projects 
  • Developing a communications calendar for assigned projects with support from the  Communications Director 
  • Participating in relevant project events to develop dissemination plans 
  • Leading communication efforts with a proactive content calendar and products
  • Guiding and mentoring colleagues in the timely delivery of newsletters, social media posts,  and project-related items 
  • Overseeing the production process 
  • Managing Cividep’s website and analysing analytics periodically, reporting bugs
  • Managing social media outreach and analysing analytics periodically 
  • Building, updating, and maintaining a contact database 
  • Editing, formatting, and designing annual reports, research reports, and other project related documents 
  • Organising communication workshops for team capacity building 
  • Assisting the Communications Director in executing Cividep’s communications policy and  streamlining the editorial process 
  • Performing any other responsibilities within the identified areas of work 

 

Skills:  

Personal  

  • Sympathetic to workers’ rights, with a strong inclination to communicate how business  and human rights are linked to workers’ welfare  
  • Willing to learn various ways of communicating workers’ stories to diverse audiences  through short and long-form content, infographics, videos, podcasts, etc 
  • Curious about content editing and publishing tools and trends, including AI 
  • Interested in social media analytics and their role in non-profit marketing communications  Technical  
  • Excellent English language communication skills, including speaking, writing, and editing;  knowledge of Kannada and/or Tamil is advantageous  
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, Canva (or other graphic design tools), Mailchimp  (or other email marketing tools), and photo/video-editing software  
  • High comfort level with content creation on social media and website content  management systems  
  • Additional skills in data analytics, photography, and videography are welcome  

 

Qualifications  

  • Degree in Media and Mass Communication, Social Sciences, or English Literature 
  • 6-8 years of work experience in a similar job profile 

Specifics  

  • The role requires working from Cividep’s office in Bangalore and involves some travel to  field offices in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu  
  • Remuneration will be competitive with social sector pay scales, based on the candidate’s  qualifications and experience
