Job Description

• Develop and implement project environmental plans and activities to promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience, as per World Bank’s environmental and social framework
• Identify and select appropriate environmental methods and tools for project environmental management
• Conduct environmental assessments and develop environmental management plans
• Ensure compliance with project environmental policies, laws, regulations, and procedures
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring and reporting systems
• Ensure supervision of public health engineering related design and drawings including review, monitoring and reporting on all activities related to water, sanitation and hygiene
• Provide technical assistance and support to project staff and stakeholders on project environmental issues
• Liaise with stakeholders on environmental matters
• Identify and mitigate potential environmental risks and impacts
• Ensure the project is environmentally sustainable
• Monitor and report on all environmental standards and compliances on stipulated intervals
• Assist the Project Specialist - Communications indrafting necessary communication material

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Post-graduate degree or equivalent in Environment/ Environment Management/ Environment Engineering/ Environmental Planning/ Environmental Sciences from a reputed University/College
• Minimum five years’ experience in environment management with at least three years’ experience in managing projects in the skills development/ TVET sector
• Strong background in environment management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of buildings is essential
• Exposure to Sustainable Building Design in institutional or academic building works will be of added advantage.
• Skills to manage and engage with diverse stakeholders, including Govt. Officials, Community Leaders etc.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
