Data Security Council of India (DSCI), is a not-for-profit, industry body on data protection in India, setup by nasscom, committed to making the cyberspace safe, secure and trusted by establishing best practices, standards and initiatives in cyber security and privacy. To further its objectives, DSCI engages with governments and their agencies, regulators, industry sectors, industry associations and think tanks for policy advocacy, thought leadership, capacity building and outreach activities.

Job Description

The Government Affairs Associate will be responsible for supporting DSCI’s engagement with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and policymakers to advance cybersecurity and data protection initiatives. The role involves policy research, stakeholder engagement, and strategic advocacy to ensure alignment between industry needs, national security requirements, and policy frameworks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing government relations strategies for cybersecurity, data protection, and emerging technology initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on relevant reports, publications, legislative, regulatory, and policy developments at the national and international levels.
  • Engage with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory bodies to plan for initiatives on cybersecurity and emerging tech.
  • Draft summary and policy briefs, white papers, responses to government consultations, and position papers on key issues related to cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate with industry stakeholders, think tanks, and trade associations to build strategic alliances and advocacy efforts.
  • Support the organization of roundtables, workshops, and events to facilitate dialogue with stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with key decision-makers and provide insights into regulatory trends that impact the cybersecurity and emerging tech landscape.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and communication materials for government engagement initiatives.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • MBA/ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in government relations, regulatory affairs, or a similar role, preferably in the technology sector.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, industry bodies, or policy think tanks is a plus.
