ABOUT Science Gallery Bengaluru

Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) is a dynamic new space for engaging young adults at the interface between the natural and human sciences and the arts, through a roster of experimental spaces, exhibitions, educational workshops, training programmes, and public events.

Key Responsibilities

1)        Mentorship (Non-formal) Programme Design and Delivery

  • Design, deliver and monitor Science Gallery Bengaluru's non-formal mentorship programmes, including the Experimentor Programme, Mediator Programme, internships, and externships.
  • Develop learning pathways and training programmes that enable participants to engage deeply with exhibitions, research, and public engagement.
  • Plan and coordinate training with artists, researchers, scholars, and internal teams.
  • Create and curate training resources and internal learning materials.
  • Provide day-to-day management, coaching, and one-to-one mentorship to Experimentors.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the Postgraduate Certificate in Science Public Engagement with the University of Glasgow.
  • Foster an engaged alumni network through continued learning, mentoring, and participation opportunities.

2)        Informal Learning Programme Delivery

  • Coordinate the delivery of informal learning programmes, including Student Learning Experiences (SLEs), Summer Schools, and other public learning initiatives.
  • Work with Experimentors and Mediators to facilitate engaging learning experiences for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Programmes teams to plan and deliver interdisciplinary learning programmes.
  • Coordinate programme logistics, participant communication, and documentation.

3)        Experimentor–Mediator Programming

  • Mentor Experimentors and Mediators to design and facilitate exhibition walkthroughs, themed tours, workshops, and other participant-led engagement formats.
  • Coordinate with the Programmes Team to deliver public programmes, events, and workshops involving Experimentors and Mediators.
  • Support participant-led experimentation and the development of new public engagement formats.
  • Work with the Editorial Team to mentor participants in developing blogs, reflective writing, and other public-facing content.

4)        Learning Resources and Educator Engagement

  • Mentor Experimentors in developing learning resources, including Activity Handbooks, Exhibition-in-a-Box, Open Courseware modules, facilitator guides, and educational collateral.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Team to design and deliver educator workshops and professional learning programmes.
  • Plan and deliver outreach initiatives with Experimentors and Mediators to disseminate Science Gallery Bengaluru's learning resources.
  • Review and continuously improve learning resources based on feedback and evaluation.

5)        Cross-team Collaboration and Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Production Team on exhibition readiness, maintenance, and participant training.
  • Work with the Editorial and Publications Team to develop learning and training content.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to showcase mentorship programmes and participant work across digital platforms.
  • Partner with the Programmes Team on the planning and delivery of public programmes and events.
  • Liaise with the Administration and Operations teams on HR processes, participant onboarding, scheduling, procurement, and programme logistics.
  • Contribute to effective cross-functional planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of Science Gallery Bengaluru's learning initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of mentorship and learning programmes by collecting, analysing, and synthesising qualitative and quantitative data to inform programme design and organisational learning.
  • Document and communicate learning initiatives through reports, case studies, grant proposals, publications, and other written outputs that support knowledge-sharing, partnerships, and organisational priorities.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Candidate must have 4 to 6 years of Experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Humanities, Natural or Social Sciences, Design, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and work effectively with young adults.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop learning resources, reports, and programme documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating, or facilitating learning programmes, workshops, or mentorship initiatives.
  • Interest in inquiry-based learning and public engagement at the intersection of science, technology, art, design, and society.
  • Experience working with educators, students, or young adults in formal or non-formal learning environments.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with programme monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment methodologies.
  • Experience using design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, or similar software’s.
  • Ability to read and write Kannada.
