Catalysts for Social Action (CSA) is a non-governmental organization based in Mumbai that strives to create a brighter future for vulnerable children, children under institutional care and care leavers. CSA operates in four states in India, namely Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Goa. CSA works with more than 100 child care institutions with almost 4500 children, and more than 1500 care leavers.

 

About the Role:

The Manager of Donor Relations plays a pivotal role in fostering and maintaining positive relationships with donors to support the fundraising goals of the non-profit organization. This position is responsible for managing donor stewardship initiatives, ensuring donor satisfaction, and cultivating long-term engagement and support.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other key stakeholders. Develop personalized stewardship plans to engage donors and express gratitude for their support.
  2. Donor Recognition: Implement strategies for recognizing and honoring donors, including acknowledgment letters, donor appreciation events, and naming opportunities. Ensure that donors feel valued and appreciated for their contributions to the organization.
  3. Communication with Donors: Serve as the primary point of contact for donors, responding to inquiries, providing updates on the organization’s work and impact, and conveying appreciation for their support. Coordinate with the communications team to ensure timely and relevant communication with donors.
  4. Donor Feedback and Engagement: Solicit feedback from donors to better understand their interests, preferences, and motivations for giving. Use this information to tailor communication and engagement strategies to meet donors’ needs and interests.
  5. Donor Retention: Develop and implement strategies to retain existing donors and increase donor loyalty and lifetime value. Monitor donor retention rates and implement targeted initiatives to reduce donor attrition and increase donor engagement.
  6. Donor Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions, contributions, and preferences in the donor database. Ensure data integrity and confidentiality in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  7. Gift Processing and Acknowledgment: Oversee the timely processing of donations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures. Coordinate the generation and distribution of acknowledgment letters and receipts to donors.
  8. Annual Reports and Updates: Write and produce annual reports and updates for donors, highlighting the organization’s achievements, impact, and financial stewardship. Collaborate with program staff and finance team to gather relevant information and data for reporting purposes.
  9. Proposal Development: Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop proposals for the following year to renew funding from existing donors. Gather programmatic information, budget details, and impact metrics to articulate the organization’s funding needs and priorities.
  10. Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on donor engagement, retention, and giving trends. Analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and inform strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience:

             •           Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or business administration). Master’s degree preferred.

            •           Minimum of 5 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or related fields, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

            •           Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and relationships with diverse stakeholders.

            •           Excellent writing skills, with experience drafting annual reports, donor updates, acknowledgment letters, and donor proposals.

            •           Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

            •           Proficiency in donor database management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

            •           Commitment to the mission and values of the organization, with a passion for donor stewardship and relationship-building.

            •           Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

 

Salary: The salary offered is competitive and will be determined based on industry standards, qualifications, and the candidate's level of experience.
