Job Description for Program Leader/Senior Program Leader – Operations

About the Role
The Program Leader – Operations will lead the operational execution of education programs across Jharkhand by managing Fellows, strengthening relationships with district and state government stakeholders, and ensuring seamless program implementation. The role requires strong leadership, operational planning, stakeholder engagement, and people management skills to enable high-quality delivery of multiple education initiatives while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fellow Management
- Lead and support a team of 4-5 Fellows working across districts.
- Conduct regular one-on-one, debriefs and review of performance.
- Support Fellows in planning, prioritization, problem-solving, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, learning, and wellbeing
2. District & Government Liaison
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with District Education officials, Block officials, and other relevant government stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in review meetings and coordination forums.
- Facilitate approvals, coordination, and convergence required for smooth program implementation.
- Ensure regular communication and follow-up with government counterparts.
3. Stakeholder Management
- Develop and sustain partnerships with government departments and key ecosystem stakeholders.
- Coordinate with institutional partners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Address operational challenges through proactive stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain a high level of credibility and professionalism while representing the organization.
4. Program Operations & Quality Assurance
- Oversee day-to-day implementation of education programs.
- Monitor implementation quality, timelines, and operational milestones.
- Conduct regular field visits to review implementation quality and provide feedback.
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to organizational processes, policies, and reporting standards.
5. Planning, Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop operational plans and review progress against targets.
- Track program indicators and analyze field data for informed decision-making.
- Prepare periodic reports, dashboards, and operational updates.
- Document best practices, learnings, and implementation challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Management, or related disciplines.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in program operations, education, rural development, or the social sector.
- Experience working with government systems and managing field teams is highly desirable.
