Position Summary

The Programme Assistant will assist in managing, coordinating, and monitoring the Abhijit Sen Rural Internship program that offers a unique opportunity to explore the realities of rural India and gain a deeper understanding of the existing socio-economic challenges. The program encourages rigorous academic scholarship amongst university students and sensitise them to the challenges faced by the diverse rural communities inthe country.

Reporting directly to the Programme Lead, this role is pivotal in ensuring seamless collaboration among interns, their academic mentors, grassroots CSOs, and the organizational support team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator and capable of fostering positive relationships with youth, contributing to their professional and educational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Coordination: Lead the coordination of university students conducting surveys and collecting data pertinent to agricultural issues, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Workshops & Seminars: Organize and facilitate workshops and seminars at universities to raise awareness and discuss key agricultural concerns affecting farmers in the country.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Document stakeholder meetings, synthesizing research findings into policy briefs, and status reports to effectively communicate results to all relevant parties.
  • Partnership Communication: Act as the primary liaison between local partner organizations and the internship program, ensuring clear communication and efficient collaboration to support interns’ activities.
  • Data Collection Support: Assist students in gathering both primary and secondary socio-economic data relevant to their field-based research.
  • Logistical and Financial Support: Act as the primary point of contact for logistical and financial coordination of the program.
  • Any other task assigned by the Programme Lead

Eligibility and Skills Required:

  • Preferably holding a post-graduate degree in social work, rural development, or social sciences.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the development sector, including at least 1 year in programme coordination.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools
  • Willingness to travel outside of Delhi as per programme needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in reporting and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) techniques.

Compensation: 5.4 lakh per annum
