Job Description

Aide et Action through its Guwahati Regional Office is implementing the “Strengthening Alternative Care Reforms in Assam” project. The project will focus on strengthening family- based care arrangements for children in need of care and protection and providing support to SCPS Assam in taking forward de-institutionalization as a strategy for the state; this would also include building institutional capacities for improved delivery of services to vulnerable families for family strengthening measures to prevent unnecessary separation of the child from the family. The project will be implemented in 22 districts of Assam – Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Nalbari, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Bongaigaon, Hailakandi, Cachar, Karimganj, Nagaon, Morigaon, Hojai, Darrang and Sonitpur.

Job Responsibilities

Expected Deliverable: to co-ordinate the access of children to alternate forms of care and strengthening aftercare for young adults.

  • Support DCP in implementation of non-institutionalisation strategy at district level through DCPUs
  • Regular coordination meetings with the CWCs/social workers/PO-IC/PO-NIC/DCPO
  • Liaison work with CWCs and DCPU for restoring children back to community
  • Assist in documentation of SIR, ICP as ordered by the CWC or as needed
  • Supporting DCPU in ensuring effective ICPs for every child in CCIs
  • Tracking the restoration/rehabilitation of children in CCIs on case to case basis
  • Working with SCPS and CWCs for ensuring only most deserving and needy child gets admitted to CCIs
  • Support ACLA fellows towards ACLA promotional and expansion activities in districts
  • Tracking project progress and outputs at their respective districts and submitting monthly reports to Project Manager for collation.
  • Field travel to support DCPU and direct implementation of required activities
  • Follow-up with departments on list provided by DCPU/ACLA for young adults in need of linkage services like Health schemes/legal documentation/vocational trainings

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Post graduate in rural management/business management/social sciences or other relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of handling projects, preferably on child rights/children issues
  • Person should be familiar with the issues pertaining to child protection in Assam and North East.
  • Person having experience of working with bilateral, international organizations, and government agencies will be given preference
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
