About the Organization

The India Gold Policy Centre (IGPC) was set up in November 2014 with grant from World Gold Council. It is a centre of excellence, conducting cutting edge applied research on the Gold Industry in India, that provides insights and suggest ways the findings can be put into execution for bringing reforms in the Indian gold market. As a think tank it strives to impact policies and practice in the gold ecosystem through research, engagement, policy recommendations and training.

IGPC works closely with the government and the industry for providing meaningful policy advisory for mapping all segments of the gold value chain for a uniform reform impact. With the accentuation of deliberations in global conventions, proactive stance of policy makers and stakeholders in the value chain, the winds of change have become significant ingredients of deliberations at the Centre.

Job Description

India Gold Policy Centre (IGPC) at IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) is hiring full-time Research Associates to support project-based data analysis. The Research Associates will be a skilled Data Analyst and are expected to work independently within the scope of assigned tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting, analysing & interpreting data, preparing reports and presentations, and managing social media posts. We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, highly active, and productive academics, will be expected to do research, and support the Centre in its activities. Past involvement in related roles would be preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Data collection from various sources, managing primary surveys and market research.
• Organize and maintain datasets, implementing efficient data storage and retrieval systems.
• Quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation employing statistical tools and techniques to analyze and visualize complex datasets.
• Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in geological and market data.
• Collaborate with researchers to develop predictive models and simulations.
• Writing detailed reports and making presentations.
• To update the Gold Dashboard on the IGPC-IIMA website.
• To handle social media and liaise with the Communication team for media updates
• To work on household survey and other research projects and write articles, policy briefs, reports, and cases independently and in collaboration with the Centre Head and the Institute’s Faculty.
• To provide editorial support across all research and publishing activities within the Centre
• To provide proofreading and formatting support on the Centre’s outputs

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Applicants must have a Masters / MPhil in economics, finance, technology, or management degree from a top-tier institution with excellent English-language skills. Candidates with an undergraduate degree may be considered, if they possess additional prior-experience in metals / gold business, or exceptional research / publications record.

Skills:

• Excellent writing and presentation skills
• Strong data analytical skills.
• Must be able to independently administer/manage surveys, analyse data
• Proficiency in working on tools like Tableau, STATA, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Ability to work with MS Office or equivalent platform to work on presentation slides, data worksheets, and visualization of data analysis.
• Professional work experience (of 1 to 5 years) in a similar role is desirable.
