Job Description

The ideal candidate should possess substantial professional expertise across insurance, pensions, climate finance, and related resilience products, along with familiarity or direct engagement with governmental entities. They should demonstrate a solid grasp of both domestic and international financial inclusion and development finance landscapes, particularly within India. Proficiency in navigating the networks of national and international donors, funders, and stakeholders in insurance, resilience, and financial inclusion realms is essential. Leadership skills to oversee a team, proactive pursuit of new business avenues, adept management of client relationships, and the capability to conceptualise and execute projects from inception to completion are key expectations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, report writing, and presentation abilities are imperative, with preference given to candidates with consulting experience.

Job Responsibilities

Business Development-

  • Conceptualize programs and secure funding from international development agencies, multi laterals, and governments.
  • Lead the development of project concepts and proposals aligned with the MSC vision, focusing on enhancing financial, social, and economic inclusion through inclusive banking and financial services approaches.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including funding partners, clients, policymakers, and government agencies.
  • Author or co-author thematic publications based on field experiences, such as focus notes, briefing notes, or blogs.
  • Engage in marketing activities and contribute to digital media dialogues, including blogs and discussion forums.
  • Develop, lead, and deliver technical projects aimed at enhancing social, financial, and economic inclusion through banking, financial services, and insurance.
  • Conduct strategic reviews, develop business plans, and create financial models for banking, financial services, and insurance providers.
  • Lead product and solution development, including pilot testing, review, rollout, and operational integration.
  • Implement process re-engineering, digitization, and automation initiatives.
  • Design and deploy alternative channels and technological solutions for digital finance in banking, financial services, and insurance sectors.
  • Drive the digital transformation of banking, financial services, and insurance providers.
  • Monitor and evaluate inclusive finance projects.
  • Assess insurance, micro-pensions, and social security programs.
  • Provide training and capacity building for participants from banking, financial services, and insurance providers.

Business Execution-

  • Attend project set-up and de-briefing meetings
  • Take charge of projects and tasks, ensuring successful delivery
  • Execute projects meticulously, with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Present consulting project outcomes to senior client management, policymakers, and government ministries
  • Review reports and presentations created by team members
  • Lead the writing of reports and analysis of data.
  • Establish connections with client staff to collect project-related data
  • Evaluate delivered training courses, developed curriculum, and provided technical assistance
  • Contribute to the enhancement of MSC's tool kits and publications

Professional Development-

  • Perform "Quality of Delivery" (QoD)/feedback assessments with team members immediately after completing assignments, following quality control guidelines.
  • Aid in the development of fellow staff members by offering guidance and advice as needed.
  • Enhance the internal capabilities of staff regarding banking and financial services, as well as emerging technologies, and their relevance to the inclusive finance sector.
  • Take responsibility for personal development by acquiring skills and knowledge that contribute value to the organization.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Post Graduation

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in insurance, encompassing a thorough understanding of various insurance products such as life, health, property, and casualty insurance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pensions, including pension plans, retirement savings accounts, and investment options.
  • Mastery in savings products, including traditional savings accounts, investment-linked savings plans, and retirement savings vehicles.
  • Expertise in resilience products, focusing on financial instruments designed to protect against unexpected events, such as disability insurance and emergency funds.
  • In-depth understanding of financial inclusion strategies aimed at providing access to financial services for underserved populations, including low-income individuals and rural communities.
  • Sound knowledge of development finance, including strategies and mechanisms for financing projects aimed at economic development and poverty reduction.
  • Proven track record in business development, involving the identification and cultivation of new opportunities for revenue generation and growth.
  • Skilled in client relationship management, with a focus on fostering long-term partnerships and delivering tailored solutions to meet clients' needs.
  • Experienced in team management, demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve strategic objectives and deliver exceptional results.
