About the Organization

The M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) was established in 1988 as a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987. The Foundation aims to accelerate use of modern science and technology for agricultural and rural development to improve lives and livelihoods of communities. MSSRF follows a pro-poor, pro-women and pro-nature approach and applies appropriate science and technology options to address practical problems faced by rural populations in agriculture, food and nutrition.These efforts have been undertaken in a participatory manner and in partnership with other knowledge-based institutions, public and private sector organisations and local communities.

Job Description

The Study Coordinator will be responsible for leading and coordinating the data collection activities for BMGF-funded Diabetes project, ensuring the quality and accuracy of the data gathered in collaboration with Department of Public Health (DPH)Tamil Nadu.This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in community-based settings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage data collection activities across assigned districts (Chengalpattu, Cuddalore/Villupuram).
  • Conduct surveys, group discussions, informal interviews, and observations with patients, healthcare providers, and community members.
  • Ensure ethical and protocol-based data collection while maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the District health authorities such as District program Officers, Healthcare providers, and community health workers to ensure smooth study implementation.
  • Organize and facilitate group discussions with patients and providers to collect indepth feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of all research activities, ensuring timely data entry and documentation.
  • Compile field reports and provide insights based on collected data.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
  • Prior experience in research coordination, data collection, and community-based health programs preferred.
  • Experience in conducting surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
  • Familiarity with non-communicable disease (NCD) programs and healthcare delivery models is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Tamil is mandatory (Reading, writing and speaking).
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned districts for fieldwork.
  • Adaptability to work in rural healthcare settings and engage with local communities.
  • Basic proficiency in digital tools for data collection and documentation.
